Played this a little more tonight; throw priority on wake-up - what's happened to it? Not sure if it's just an AI thing (I've been playing 1p mostly) but I am getting beaten when getting up from downed all the time by grapplers. Tried out the new characters in full - not sure I like Viper's f-d-df + p move, it just doesn't feel like a move that should be in SF but there we go - otherwise I quite like her. Rufus is a terrible character but he seems very strong - crazy reach on his crouching HP. El Fuerte I cannot see myself as playing at all. He reminds me of a castrated version of Tivoc/The Griffon, but with an annoying voice, few specials, and a cheap ultra. Abel still remains my favourite of the new batch.

Also yep, what a surprise, online is shoto-a-geddon.

Also couldn't agree more about SFIII characters needing to be in this. Whilst I am enjoying this, I can't help thinking to myself that 3S is still the better game. If they gave that a polish a la SSFT2HDR I'd probably never leave my house.

Most annoyingly of all, the console's been off for half an hour and I can still hear "in-de-structable" in my head.

I'm absolutely loving this so far. I've never been the hugest fan of fighters, having never really had the time to devote to them, but I've played this for about 4 hours today already, which is the most I've played a new title in release in years!

The look and feel of the game is outstanding. The animation is just incredible, and the movement just feels right somehow. I love that, rather than the daunting scroll of moves and combos in games like Soul Calibur IV, each character has a relatively small special roster, so you can really work on mastering the best way to use each one.

I have the 360 version at the moment, and am playing mostly on the analogue stick, because the D-pad is so very uncomfortable. Do people have any thoughts as to which is better between the 360 and the PS3 version?

Also, a specific question: I'm having real trouble mastering the Ryu/Ken Super/Ultra combo. For whatever reason, I just can't seem to nail the input. Even in practice mode, I can only actually pull it off 1 in ever 30 or so tries, and this is getting really frustrating. Anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

If you can do a Hadoken (Fireball) then you're almost there. Do the quarter circle motion as you would do to do a Hadoken twice quickly and then press any punch. Press all punches to do the Ultra.

I strongly recommend the offical Fightpad, man. I tried playing with the 360 control and it's just wrong

Stick with your 360 version and if you can, get a better pad or stick.

Nothing. It's the analog stick. I was having issues all night trying to pull off the ultras and will wait for my proper TE stick tomorrow. Managed to unlock everyone bar Gouki, Gouken and Seth at least so far. Seth is so cheap even on the lowest setting, I had so much trouble beating him with Abel and Bison until I reduced the time to 30 seconds and used that to win instead

I'll see about trying some of the challenges tomorrow night along with beating the game on medium for those achievements. And then... onto online!

Absolutely loving this still, managed to unlock Akuma and Gouken and now in the middle of unlocking Seth.

I take it that if you have unlocked other characters such as Sakura/Dan/Rose etc then you don't need to play through with Ryu etc again to go towards unlocking Seth ?

Playing online was great as well, I've just been jumping into Ranked online matches and so far have over 400BP which is good for someone as naff as me! Been winning quite a few matches and most people have been ok apart from one person who disconnected when about to lose and some american teenager twat who was shouting and who unfortunately beat me as well. Luckily I couldn't hear him too loudly though I knew he was talking **** from the muffles/screams coming from the tv speakers (had my headset unplugged)

I do hope my MadCatz controller arrives soon though, as well as needing the practice for fast combos I was getting spanked from not being able to pull off moves when I wanted too, and because of my own inexperience as well.

Have been playing this a lot last night and I'm absolutely loving it. But I really need my gamepads to arrive ASAP !! it's quite annoying playing it with the 360 pad, when you can't get the move out that you need on the crucial moments in combat is bloody annoying !!
Played a few player matches online with a friend of mine, we were in a party, we played about 6 or 7 matches and had 3 times that the connection was lost in the middle of a fight ?! bloody annoying, because I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with our connection because we still able to talk with each other all the time. The fights we did were totally lag free which is a good thing ofcourse.

I noticed I can play much better with characters that have their specials with quarter circles etc instead of the charge moves (like Guile, Chun-Li, Bison etc). I just can't get the timing right, I have the feeling it takes to long to make the moves and that I need to plan my to far moves ahead, not fast enough to react...

Just learning the use the focus moves a bit as well...

Works fine put mine in last night on PS3 PSN. Just went to redeem code section. Remember if you have a PAL game it has to be done on PAL account as well ie UK one as I forgot and tried it on my normal USA one and of course it wouldnt work. Its just the brawler pack even says so when it gets inputted.

I just Johnny-One-Move him. Sweep, stay crouched block, let him vaccum and attack, sweep and repreat.
