Droppers should be penalised with a 15min countdown before they can play again. It worked in WoW and it'd work here.

Valid disconnects are a thing of the past unless you have cack internet.

I can't remember from that match, and that was the first dropper, but do you lose the win when someone drops, like in 3rd Strike?
The thing with air-hadoken spamming is that is is very punishable. Even more so than regular fireball spamming, since they're recovering in the air. Focus the fireball-->dash, and they're screwed. Throw or combo as they come down.

Gief has no problems against fireball-spamming, since Lariat and green-hand go through fireballs (and green-hand gives some serious movement). And, I suppose, he is a bit overpowered, but not in they sense that they made him alone very powerful. I think it's more that the command throws in this game have extremely high priority (as an example, Abel's starfall grab can grab people out of hurricane kicks, and I've managed to grab Cammy out of a Cannon Spike as she was on her way up)... and that obviously helps him because he's all about the command-grabs.

That's weird, I thought they would have got the loss and you the win. That's what's supposed to happen in HD Remix anyway, and in that interview with the HD Remix guy, he said XBL servers can do all that stuff like finding out who quit and who didn't so they can award/punish accordingly.

In the 'good' old days of CvsSNK2 and SFAC, if they quit then it counted as a game played for you but not a game won, so it affected your win ratio. With SF2HF on 360, it was initially like that but then an update appeared that gave the quitter the loss and you the win, and if I remember correctly, the ranking tables were reset back to zero when the update hit to ensure accuracy.

Luckily for me I haven't had any quitters on SF4 (mind you, I haven't been winning many matches!), and I've been playing ranked games exclusively, bar the couple of player matches with friends. As with HD Remix, I'll play ranked matches until I start coming across quitters and then I'll never touch them and stick with player matches.

Yeah I've not had anyone quit on me either in a Ranked Match. Certainly I remember the problem being rife in Capcom vs. SNK 2.

Well I had a Seth player quit on me during a Player match a couple of nights back, not that that makes a difference - I just thought it was funny. I msg'd him saying "YOU SUCK!!1"

              "YOU SUCK!!1"?

Mate, you need to try USB Keyboard Fighter 2 Turbo. It's wicked! I plug a keyboard into my 360 and type these nice, long messages for the quitters about how they're useless and they're only hurting themselves etc etc. Of course, my opponents are using a pad/stick so their response is almost always 'wotever' or 'lol' or something equally shortened, so I win again! It helps remove that skanky feeling of having being quit on, as you almost always get the last laugh (even if it's only you who thinks that).

I kept dragoning a Guile player in SF2HF and he quit on me so I got busy on the keyboard and he replied, claiming it was the only thing he could do against my cheap dragons, so I told him the moral of the story is to keep trying, and the challenge is in finding ways around people's tactics, no matter what they are. Two seconds later I got a 'yeah you're right' and a friend request

That's what I thought, but I'm not sure. There definitely seems (so far) to be less of a problem with droppers, so who knows? I hope the championship patch makes the character select blind like in HD Remix though- don't know why they didn't implement that from the beginning.

That thing about the 15-minute penalty for dropping is a good idea. I didn't realise it was used in WoW. It'd definitely put the worst offenders off, since they're usually scrub types looking for quick wins.

Reading that I was quite chuffed that most of the things they mentioned in the Chun Li section is stuff I've picked up in the last 2 days of playing her. Clearly I'm on the right track.

Only downside that if anyone else reads that they may figure me out.

So actually, scrap that, I don't do anything mentioned in there. It's all bobbins.

That 1Up guide says Abel has no reliable anti-air. I'm pretty sure his Falling Sky move has pretty good priority (the guide seems to disagree), as I have grabbed people out of specials with it before.

This makes me question the guide's reliability a little...

Also, came across this video of and Abel player vs. Balrog. Abel does some pretty nice stuff there.
