Yeah saw that as well a little while ago... least it clears up the confusion.

Had some cracking fights with Fallows earlier this evening.

I actually felt a little bad as I wasn't straying from Chun-Li whereas he gave almost everyone on the roster a spin out and put up a fight with whoever he chose.

I decided to try a few others out to repay the variety so went to Ryu who got well and truly mauled by Blanka. Also had another spin with Zangief (second time ever) and just managed to beat his Rufus with an EX Spinning Piledriver on wake up (I'd have lost if I'd fluffed that).

However I made my first use of Sakura for a few matches and I really like. Very little has changed from her Alpha incarnations (although it didn't could charge up her fireballs but may have been fluffing the button presses). Her Ultra move is pure skank. Starts off low which is really easy to catch people off guard with. Her EX Dragon Punch and Hurricane kick appear to be her level 1 supers from the Alpha games too. They were great tools for busting through the armour of the Focus Attack.

I love this game. Seem to have become obsessed with playing as Guile too. Used to play him back on the amiga version years ago. That and its a concious decision to learn other characters.

Still crap, but it seems that a lot of players online don't really know how to fight against him. Which is handy.

You hold the button in this one to charge her fireball.

Decided to pick up Blanka yesterday, shot up from about 500 to 1700 points since then.

So funny crossing up with his jumping medium kick (trades or beats most anti airs) and sliding under fireballs. Plus most people not realising you have to block UP when he comes down from his ultra...

I've been mauled a few times by Blankas' tonight. Which was terrifying - I just couldn't keep up.

As someone who never really played street fighter until HD remix came out I am finding SFIV a wonderful experience. It's daunting, terrifyingly so, but every time I go back to it I realise I've learnt something new and am getting just a little smidge better.

Of course, I still ended up going from 300BP to 0BP this evening. Bad times.

Blanka is dangerous as hell, good Blanka players have been some of my toughest matches. I play as Balrog almost exclusively and have very little to effectively counter his rolls with. I require more games against a variety of characters but every other match seems to be a Ken player, so I'm not getting anywhere near enough games to build anti-Blanka, Vega, Abel etc. techniques.

I'm probably going to give ranked matches a break for a week or two and delve into the challenge mode and make use of the training mode too. Maybe a few player matches along the way too.

But... if he wasn't called M. Bison, my friend's shopped image wouldn't make any sense!

                  Lol. Yeh, we're funny.... =(

You could call him Baker instead of Vega, then the pie pic might probably still work

Yeah, sorry man I was mostly scrubbing some of those matches with randomness as I'd never actually chose El Fuerte (lol, random mash of moves, wtf) or Rufus before then. I can't really do much flashy stuff outside of Sagat at the moment. He's becoming known as being cheap as well so I'm moving over to other chars gradually, however I've yet to do any trials with anyone other than Zangief really.

Don't feel bad about picking your character all the time man at this early stage in the game. It's better practice for me. Might be worse off for you though as I'll only get used to the way you play - makes for some exciting matches though. Next time we hook up we'll have a best of 10 on the same characters or something.

Yeah, I was sure I'd blocked most of your ultras but then remembered they were low openers after we'd played about 4 matches or so, lol.

                          Too right Sakura = win

i've just left the game for the night annoyed as some pussy ken fighter quit on me after i perfected him in the first round, why do they even bother to play if they can't accept defeat teh gimps

Good matches tonight hoolak. Wasn't sure if you wanted to stick with a character or play around a bit, which is why I tried a bit of everything. Picked Abel and I don't think I could remember a single of his specials (Except the Ultra!).

I had my headset by my side but wasn't sure if you had one so didn't bother.

Enjoyed the Zangief matches definitely. As I've mentioned I'm on a real steep learning curve with the stick, new characters along with the general mechanics of the game so I'm quite happy that I can put up a fight with most characters. I don't think I'll ever be the flashy type - I tend to favour a more measured approach (Which is another reason I struggle with Zangief I think).

I have to say I enjoy playing Boxer though, more than I should given I'm not a fan of charge characters. Might try and give him some love.

No it's cool going a good mix of characters. I tended to go back to Rufus as that's a character I'm trying to learn. No I never think to equip myself with my headset. I just get in and game Ok, it's very useful for Socom.

I think I've hit around about 200 matches played online now, and I've exclusivly been using Dhalsim and the odd other character.

The amount of effort required to beat certain characters who are semi proficiant at some basic moves is tough as hell. I don't think it's any where near as balanced as Super Turbo from my brief experience with this game so far, fair enough the jump from lowest (Twelve) to higher (Chun\Yun\Ken) teir isn't as significant like in 3rd Strike, but replace Twelve with Necro or Oro instead. It's still a steep climb to win against a Sagat.

I need to start using back dash to get out of certain situations and absorbing fireballs using the Focus Attack to build up Ultra Meter has helped me swing a number of matches back in my favour.

I am kind of in the position where I am more annoyed then anything else. Because I now have to choose to pick someone I know can compete against the top characters like Sagat, Balrog and Gief and hate playing the game, or just sit in my Dhalsim shaped rut and continually get raped for doing a tiny mistake...like not blocking one EX tiger knee and eating a ton of block strings. I could learn Sagat, but I don't want to play continual mirror matches against other Sagats just so I can win a few more matches. It will make the game really dry to play.

I also thought there must be a way out of some block strings, you know, when someone jumps in and alts between light and medium kicks to add pressure on. So I hit the focus. SUCCESS! YET...FAILED. The FA hit the other player yet it wasn't strong enough to crumple them and they recover far too quickly and go back to the Tiger, Tiger, WAIT...Tiger Knee again. If it's not that, it's being constantly wary of tick throws or tick command throws such as that lovely Honda. ****!

I must be missing somthing, there is no way a match can be weighted this much in a characters favor for minimum effort. There are counter characters for everyone sure, but I really don't want to go down that route of learning X character so I can prepare myself just incase facing Y. Probably a bit of sour grapes on my behalf that my character of choice isn't as good as he used to be before as otherwise I wouldn't be that bothered.

Dhalsim is good for me against Zangiefs and to an extent Balrogs, but Sagat is really doing my nut in. I've not even come across many Shotos or Goukens that give me as much grief as that guy.

It's still early days but theres only so much you can do. The only other avenue I have not gone down is learning the Focus Attack Dash Cancelling and see if learning that can shift the odds in my favour regardless of charater.

                                Man...sounds like I'm moaning. :/ Nevermind, submitted.
