    @ DavidFallows:

You get the arrange tunes in-game when you fight your rival (and it'll be your own character's music, not theirs), I'm pretty sure of it. In other news, I was doing the time trials yesterday and the music for the last fight was the theme song! It was pretty spectacular

This is how all my ranked matches have gone tonight.

Player selects character, only to quickly switch to Ken once I've selected Zangief.
They begin throwing fireballs, I spin through them, they keep throwing, I get nearer. They try and dragon punch, I just block it and grab them on the way down.
They try it again as if I'm not going to expect it. I just do the same thing.
They do it a third time, I return in kind.
I then finish them off with either spinning piledrivers or an ultra move and then stick my fingers up to the yellow haired shmuck in the top right of my screen. TAKE THAT KEN MASTERS!!!!

I love people trying to psyche you out on the character select screen. Hovering over Dan until you pick a character and then being all JOKES and picking Ken.

The game is amazing. I've piled just over twenty hours into it, and lost almost every game I've played. I never took Street Fighter at all seriously until HD Remix come out, so I'm still leagues behind. Still. Fantastic game.

So I've got a strange fascination to pick up HD remix. Does this make it redundant or would it be a nice side dish with my arcade stick?

Strider, good on you!! People who insist on waiting for you to pick first then choosing certain characters should be shot. Surely they'd play better by picking their main and playing normally.

Freelance, I think HD Remix is fantastic, though you'd need local friends that enjoy the game as much as you do to get more out of the game. I've never had online games in it that are just as good as these lag-free ones we're all having in SF4.

I love the character screen frolics. I just get on with it and choose my character. One thing about the game is that I actually have expectations of people who don't choose
Ryu/Ken, that they might actually know how to play the game.

I've only been using my arcade stick for less than 2 weeks and am pleasantly surprised at how adept I am at using it. Errors do creep into my play due to the stick, but I've definitely grasped it, and using it wasn't as huge a barrier as I thought.

Also, how many BPs has everybody here got? I've managed 1300-ish at the moment. Was 1400 but lost 3 games in a row just now.

I've managed to get up to 1500 odd but lost countless games in a row, i'm now just over 1000 trying to claw my way back up again. All with C. Viper, nobody else.

After trying out several new characters, my will to play this game has just slowly decreased and decreased further.

I want to like it. I really, really want to like it. But I just can't. It's a game designed to completely infuriate with imbalance and connectivity issues. When you win there's a genuine feeling of achievement online, but it's just not worth it for the fact that i've been sitting here now for 20 minutes trying to quick match only to get UNABLE TO PLAY every time, only to face up against a Ken who's going to completely slaughter me because I can't get close or get priority over his dragon punch.

There's a reason 80% of people online are all Ken, and that's because he just seems to completely wipe the floor with everyone else. That shouldn't be happening.

While other people might be thoroughly enjoying this despite the flaws in it, and will more than likely start declaring me as wrong, i'm crap, etc, I'm just not willing to put the amount of effort required just so I can beat a totally imbalanced character with someone I want to play.

I don't play games to be infuriated, I play them to have fun. That isn't fun.

Have you tried just creating a ranked game and letting someone join you? It was instant for me 99% of the time.

My theory for the unable to play message is that lots of people have the challenge me turned on. Then when you search for games, players appear in the search. You then challenge them (or effectively, try to join their game) and they say "blood ell, it keeps popping up while I'm trying to enjoy single player - Cancel!" and you get an unable to play message.

                  Does that make sense?

I know it might not seem like it sometimes, but that really isn't hard to counter with a little practice. You have more than enough tools as any character to get around Fireball spam (The main being jumping, but don't forget you can absorb an FB with the focus attack) - and once you have the ranges properly worked out any FB thrown at you is a free j.HK/sweep combo (More if you want it). As C. Viper you also have the option of a super jump, although I would imagine the timing on that can be quite tricky.

If you're catching DPs on the way in then you're jumping too late. I have intended to play with Viper a bit (Only finished unlocking everyone last night, so haven't played any real matches yet), might give her a try later tonight to see what she's like against that kind of player.

Most of the comments suggest that she has great potential but is difficult to master - so perhaps not an ideal first choice. I know you want to stick with a single character - but I'd suggest taking Ken online and trying out the tactics you're struggling with to see how people deal with it.

I've been browsing through the 1Up Guide this morning and it has some good information for each character and how to control certain situations.

I bought the strategy guide the other day. What a waste of money, hardly any good pieces of information in it. Not worth the 12.99 i paid for.

I paid less, but I'd have to agree to be honest - there's stuff that's at least as good freely available online. Useful as a handy move reference but not much else.

                        Nice cover though!

Unlocking the characters information in the book is totally wrong too. Would have been nice to have had some tips for the challenges too.

A strategy guide for a 2-D fighter. What did you really expect?

Well the strategy guide was made by Americans they are wrong as usual especially changing the names. I say invest in the guide Zero9X in case you wanna pawn it off ebay for more £££ later on in life.
