Thats when you change the voice settings mate

Dunno. But in the sound options you can change all the voices to Japanese or English. Maybe set it back to English if you like the song to be in English?

It's based of the Cut Scene language setting.

If you play back the Intro in the gallery with Cut Scene Voices set to Japanese you get the JP soundtrack there too.

Here's a fun quiz: What do you think is happening in this video?

They are transfering the hyper armour from the Focus Attack into their Ultra Combo? O_O

Does look like that, doesn't it? But apparently it's not...

They are indeed "absorbing" a hit first though. Think about the characters in the video, and ways to take a hit and not get stunned (hint: it is not a FA).

I couldn't work it out so I cheated and looked at the Japanese. Seems to say they're doing the ultra at the exact moment their 'armour move' absorbs the opponent's attack?

So they're turning blue and then doing the ultra. The only time I've seen people turn blue like that is doing the FA but as you (and the movie info) say, it's not the FA at all.

One of the tags is 'amakan' which I imagine is short for 'armour cancel' so I've been Googling and found a tactics guide that gave an example:

(Abel) EX Change of Direction > Ultra Combo

Which is probably what he was doing in the video although someone in the comments section mentioned Abel's 'rekka'. No idea what that is though!

I'm busy writing a report for tomorrow (yeah, right) so I can't go sticking on SF4 to try it out right now...

Well, I guess I'll tell the answer then XD

As Billy says, it is a kind of "armour cancel". You know how some people's EX moves let them blow through a hit? e.g. Gief's bear hug and Abel's Change of Direction. It seems that at the moment you are hit during the EX you can cancel right into the ultra. And if you do everything fast enough i.e. time it so that you get the EX out more or less as you are hit and cancel into the ultra straight away, you don't burn a super bar! I'm filing this in the "not working as intended" pile XD

By not burning a super bar, you mean you don't lose any EX bars at all?

Im guessing this is a really stupid question given the limited release of the controllers but does anyone know if anywhere online is selling the fightpads / fightsticks at a reasonable price to import?

They arent available here in Australia at all, though I notice JB Hifi is taking pre-orders for the tournament stick and sourcing them on ebay is pretty painful given the exchange rate and the exorbitant prices people are asking for them...

I've pre-ordered a tournament stick from JB but the expected delivery is June, gah! So I want to pick up a fightpad if I can in the meantime as I am sick of using the standard controller and getting my butt whipped.

Apparently not. Though I can't vouch for it just by looking at that video. It is in training mode, where you can set whether you have an infinite super bar, or one that builds automatically even when you're not doing anything...

The Ultra bar isn't burning either so I guess the training mode is set to infinite.

Got my first negative rep report on this last night although to be fair it did look bad. XD

It turns out someone in the house had torrents running (I wasn’t aware of this until it was too late) but I was getting massive lag all the time and 2 matches previous I’d lost connection. I just assumed Virgin Media were being their usual crap selves and should have gone back to Arcade/Challenge mode but kept trying to get ranked matches.

Got into a match and sure enough lags to **** I get wasted and perfected then up pops the “Connection with other player has been lost” message. I knew what would be coming and sure enough I look at my rep 5 mins later and I have my first bad rep under quit early. Mental Note: Make sure no one in house has torrents running when I play tonight.

Best moment was fighting my first El Fuerte. He took the first round as he got me with repeated body splashes as I got up and kept ****ing up the block as they crossed up. I’ll hold my hands up and admit I shouldn’t have fell for it as many times as I did but it made the first round a write off. Problem was this guy didn’t have a plan B and once I clocked it he became very easy and took the final 2 rounds with little effort.

There just seems to be a breed of player who is not interested in learning and developing new strategies and is instead willing to just take the loss and move on hoping that their minimal tactics work better on the next person that challenges them. If I lose to a player in a Ranked Match I do my best to try and find their lobby for a rematch to see if I can up my game.

I just got this yesterday and haven't played even close to enough to comment on the gameplay but the visuals are everything I feared from the visuals. This looks archaic to me. The animation is atrocious - Zangief really stands out with his walk being so awkward. Viper looks better in person than I thought in the vids but that's balanced out by the embarrassment that is Rufus. Even the pre-game drawings look bad. What sucks about the animation is that, if other 3D fighters are anything to go by, we'll be seeing this same animation for 15 or more years.

I have to say, I am really loving the music though. I thought I might miss the old themes but, no. This music rocks and gets me right into the fight. Actually, SF2 HD gave me the same impressions - piss poor visuals but excellent music. I think there's an OST release for this one. I may have to get it.

Beyond the visuals, the fighting does seem fun. I'm so glad they went for more of a SF3 Chun-Li over the SF2 version. Now I actually need to learn how to play this. Oh, and I need a better controller.

Your graphical standards seem uber high I've no probs whatsoever about how this looks. It looked good in screenshots, but once I saw it running I was blown away. I guess I'm easily pleased.
