Someone has finished the game in just over two hours! Vids available here

It's insane... I'm watching it now and he's doing Highway 17 on FOOT!!

Very interesting though, loads of exploits and rocket jumping going on (only without rockets)

EDIT 2... seconds later the frigging vide freezes!!!

Did your video crash halfway through as well, or is it just my crappy work PC?

If nothing else, the parts where I play fetch with dog, talk/follow Alyx in Nova Prospekt, and the second turret gun sequence were all, I think, improved with regards to viewer pleasure. You'll see what I mean in Nova Prospekt, especially -- there's even an easter egg I'm sure will be lost on most people.
Woah. I played for ages in the hope of finding the best way to do Nova Prospekt's second turret section. I wonder what annoyingly good solution this guy has come up with.

I haven't watched it start to finish, but it seems to work in the latter parts.

Tig, you mean the bit where you place 4 gun turrets? He places 2, grav jumps into a high prison cell, then spends the time writing messages in the wall with his crowbar. Boring but safe.

I just wanted to know if anyone else has found this, or if I'm imagining some kind of fluke to be great AI... but, on the war-torn building-top where you have a rocket cache and a couple of Striders to kill (while you're heading for the Horse statue)... an ally infront of another who was firing, ducked ...and then almost Zulu-style stood up to fire when his teammate behind reloaded.

Oh yeah, apologies if it's been posted, but some of the people on the past few pages might find this extremely interesting:

I tried Garysmod but it wouldn't even work with the installer

Seemed like a useful way to get your fix of Alyx pr0n...... *ahem* so I'm told

You can gravity jump? Hmm.. must learn to do that. Might make HLDM2 less of a bore. I really missed the Gauss Gun.

There doesn't seem to be a "right" way of placing the turrets to me. Grenades get thrown at you pretty randomly so its largely luck or you're ability to get them upright again.

                      Did Entanglement last night...

For what it's worth I placed the turrets against the outer walls of the area about half way between the passage with the ammo and the passage with the health...

That did the trick for me!

Have to say, that was the least enjoyable part of the game so far.

The hardest part of Half-Life 2 is during Entanglement with the turrets. I didn't experience the trouble some have had with it, but I do agree it is a spike in an otherwise steady game in terms of difficulty.

I found the turret part in Entanglement really hard the first time around, but then the second time I set up a blockade in one of the passages with the gravity gun to force the combine soldiers to come from few locations that I had under control. Made it easier for me.

I don't see what everyone problem was with this section, but I haven't done it on anything but easy yet (I wanted to play through on each difficulty) so far I am on the section before it. However from what I can tell if you barricade the entrances before using the turrets it is easy.

I didn't have a problem with the turrets in Entanglement as such I just didn't enjoy them...

I'm on "Follow Freeman" now and things are back on form so to speak... only stopped cos the game froze on me... fecking Valve! I love them and hate them!

I'm finding the game incredibly easy. Played half of it on normal and restarted on hard and it's still a breeze to be honest.

                              EDIT:

Played another hour or so this morning and came head to head with some Striders! That was pretty intense!

This game was worth me making a new PC for alone!

I only kept having 3 turrets in the parts where you're meant to have 4 when I played through on medium - because I kept going back and trying to take my old turrets as far as they would go each time I had some ...in the end it appears they just replace a later one.

Re: The Striders/War-torn City bits - I love them, I do, but I can't help being disappointed after Call of Duty which was out in like 2002 wasn't it? And then I recently played the United Offensive expansion pack... I had a mess around in Hammer and scripted loads of resistance fighters to rush down a[n](admittedly Orange) street towards a Strider... I had like 16 in the main street (only 4 would follow) all scripted to run, and then scripted 8 on either side of what would be ruins so it looked like a big assault type thing. I'd have loved it if Valve had created a toned-down version of the civvie for huuuuuge set-pieces if it really troubled low-end machines.
