not necessaily as often there is a healthy window of debate, is GT5, Outrun, Grid, Mario Kart etc the best racer ? This genre is quite narow and if you can't better a 2y+ old game at least in the technical aspects what's the point, happily this seems to nail quite a lot right. If it hadnt it would sit in that clunky 2nd tier of copyists like Saints Row.

had another bash with the lights out late last night and the surround sound on and I am totally taken with this, you get a glimpse at the end of a major power as you call down a lightening storm taking out a whole street. totally clicked with the controls and its really elegant as you can whoosh along power lines onto a roof and plough staight into the enemy before whooshing off.

graphically this is quite pretty, very detailed environments, i'm not noticing much pop up or draw in and there are some nice destructable bits like glass walkways

I will definitely agree with you, I was exhausted last night after a long week so found it a bit hard, but woke up this morning and immediately wanted to play it again!

I totally loved "force" smashing a car and them all blowing into the sky...I also loved the idea of being a live conduit and the way you move the train.

This has potential to be amazing, and the mechanics might make the missions have more variety. I think the difficulty stems from not having auto-aim and lock-on dragging the reticule at enemies straight away...like Killzone 2 you actually have to aim at people to get them!

Oh yeah and I love how when you "down" someone you get +1 "hero" (blue) XP for just restraining them, but +1 "villian" (red) XP for finishing them off. Also, how you can walk around "healing" people and getting hero XP for that too

I've had another couple of games now.

It's a shame you can't explore any more in the demo although they obviously want to limit what you're doing in this. I think they could have handled the way they stop you if you go to far a lot better though, it just says cancelling mission and you go back to the beginning.

Once you've started the 2nd mission it's worth rail surfing around the island as it shows you a lot of what's available as well as giving you glimpses of the other islands.

I do like launching 5 or 6 cars into the air with the push ability. It obviously has a downside as if you shoot a load of cars 50 foot into the sky, the come back with quite a force and it's easily enough to take you out.

There seems to be quite a difference between your attacks whether they are blue or red. The blue attacks are far more precise but the red attacks cover a much wider area so you may end up taking out civilians too.

I like the way that people start taking photos if you go the hero route .It didn't happen in the demo but in the full game groups of civilians will gang up and stone you if you take the infamous route.

I'm looking forward to the other areas with the really tall buildings in for the platforming.

I'm picking up whichever version of the game is cheapest at release.

Not terribly interested in the extra power or the Uncharted 2 beta. I'll be picking that up for the SP regardless of the quality of the MP.

True, I'll be picking up Uncharted 2 despite the multiplayer.

After the initial train mission you can explore all you want on the first island without taking one of the other missions. It'll keep popping up a message to follow your GPS to the next objective, but you can ignore it.

I'm not convinced by the game yet. It's a bit hard to kill (and see!) enemies who are far away, though they have no trouble hitting you. And it feels a little clumsy to me.

By the way, take a look under the bridge on the south of the island.

After a fixed amount of time you will get 60 seconds timer to go to your objective, when the timer passes you will be ported there and start the mission automatically.

Anyone else noticed some cars don't have drivers?

Other than that solid game, with incredible controls. Day 1 purchase.

That's nothing, I'm more concerned about the very limited employment opportunities in the city. Just have a look at a street of parked cars to see what I mean...at least 90% of them will be cop cars!

Just played the demo, absolutely awesome. Loved the comic book style cutscenes too, they look fantastic. I was gonna buy this anyway but now am really looking forward to it.

I wish it had the begining of the full game on the demo, it eases you into the world a little better

Yeah... I'm liking this. It isn't up to Crackdown standards, but it comes close. I can see the full game driving me up the wall, given how many painfully stupid design cliches the demo resorts to (can damage certain things, can't damage others; can shift certain things, can't shift others; what can't electricity do?, etc., etc.) but for all the little niggles I picked up on it was still tremendous fun. For every stupid con there's any number of pros to make up for it; animation is way too exaggerated, but the different poses are beautifully done; yes, the electric powers are just a regular FPS arsenal and there's little or nothing innovative about them, but combat is fast, explosive, and most importantly still potentially deadly; yes, the movement is somewhat dumbed down but Sucker Punch have obviously put some effort into making you think about your route (unlike Assassin's Creed - or Prototype, it seems) you can't just push the stick, close your eyes and wake up five minutes later.

Good stuff. Roll on the release. After the disappointing reviews for Bionic Commando (I don't need to play it to know I'd find the linearity hugely annoying) this is looking much more promising.
