I've been playing the demo non-stop and really looking forward to this.

Thanks to the joys of Game pre-order it arrived today (with 2 free fighters download code)

What really strikes me having put hours into the demo is how distinct the fighters and styles feel. Play as Lesnar and not surprisingly a 20st monster isn't head kicking and dancing, put his power really feels right. Anderson Silva is just so slippery and his ground game is amazing.

Each fighter seems quite distinct so far and you even need to allow for their reach before working out how to approach each bout.

On downside the single player mode seems a bit thin on the ground using the official fighters, just exhibition bouts (unless I'm being a spanner and missing something in the clunky menus). There is a whole career mode in there for making up your own man which looks pretty big.

The demo gave an idea of how deep the fighting system is, but a few bouts with different chaps really shows how it opens up and you have to play to each fighters strengths.

Very interested in this, does it treat players well who don't know UFC and/or beat 'em ups?

nab the demo on live or PSN, it has the pretty comprehensive tutorial in there and really shows you how the game plays.

its not a street fighter fast and furious combo type beat em up (though there are combos), its a very deep fighting system and more of a sim, I suspect most of us feel our way thru what works against what as not being an MMA expert myself I'm not that sure of what is effective against a samba or brazilian jujitsu master !

the demo will reveal all as to whether its for you or not as you can play it for hours !

had a very quick go online this afternoon and it was awful, both fighters were in slow-mo, I know one fight isn't definitive but been reading elsewhere this could have 'issues' online.

offline its simply amazing, been trying out all the styles and sizes, the little 'uns are a bit odd as look like bobble heads but they seem so quick. I can't recall a game where the different characteristics of who you play as so strongly effect the way you play and feel of a game

the front end menu is a dog though, amazing how anybody still chucks out clunky things like this, a a front end is like car door handles, its your first interaction and sets the tone for the package. thankfully the work has gone into the game though so I'll forgive it that.

I had 2 matches online, the first one was slightly laggy but not too bad, the second one was terrible and disconnected itself after about 10 seconds.

Totally agree with Merf on the loading, it's atrocious. In Career mode, after a match it saves for ages, if you want to manually save, it saves your game (you okay it) then it saves your fighter (you okay that too).

Amazingly technical fighting game but jesus, the menu's are some of the clunkiest in recent times.

i've just spent a couple of hours in the career mode, love the way you build your fighter up, spar, train (no stupid mini games) and have the actual fights but god the saving screens that keep popping up and disappearing are terrible.

its not that they are up for ages, just they keep flashing on and off as it looks for device, finds device, saves game etc it would be better to just have one long one and it all in the background.

managed to get my man up to 7-0 though, he's a devastating striker but think my lack of effort in building up his ground game will soon be found out.

re the loading, have you guys tried installing the game to hard drive? If you're using the 360 version...

To be honest Chris, it's not just the loading, it'is the saving for me. It saves after every fight and it just takes too long in my opinion. Saving twice when you ask it to save (because it saves game and then fighter stats) is just poor design. Shame really as otherwise I can't fault it.

I've not installed it though, no, as I only have a 20GB HDD and I am very picky about the one game I have installled...usually the one I play the most online like Fifa 09 etc.

I don't think the saving after fights is that bad really its only a few seconds.

The online definitely needs work doing. The main options are basic which I don't mind too much, however the game is pretty laggy. Me and my mate played a few games online and they all were sluggish, and we both have 20 meg Virgin Broadband which is pretty much as good as it gets in the UK.

Its a shame because the actual game is bloody amazing, if they don't get a patch out it will be a disaster.

I'm on experienced, if i go up higher then i get my arse handed to me on the ground all the time, i will go up a soon as i've got some ground skills !
