Pretty sure there is just 1 game... the others on your friends list were probably in the Crowd?

Why weren't they in the same game? You wouldn't know they were in the same game unless they were in the mob, and even then, only if you recognised their avatar. If you aren't in the mob or the one, you are in the crowd, whereby only the people in your 4 person in-game party can see you.

It's ONE game, played by the entire population, for example, we were in a party on the dash, but in game we were split into different groups, but we were answering the same questions.

The whole point behind it being the live show is that such a massive amount of people "tune it" and it also has a live host. The point about never getting a go isn't true either, since Jim joined our party and got into the mob on his second go. However, myself, Dazzyman, Tony and his girfriend spent the entire 2 hours in the crowd, never getting into even the mob. It's pure luck is all.

As for prizes, they are real as of the next live session.

I think it's fantastic and exactly the type of thing we should be seeing with all these internet enabled consoles, bravo Microsoft, bravo. An experience like this, for me, is truly next-gen.

It wasn't flawless for me. As I mentioned in the first game I joined the 'one' disconnected and there was a large wait until the next game got underway. Also sometimes you were meant to hear the presenter but couldn't.

It just seemed too much of a coincidence that both me and my friends got Mobbed in the same round at the same time and I didn't see anyone else from the forum/myfreindslist in the mob either, despite them saying that they had been.

Also the fact that the Host of the show is actually just a scripted pre recorded voice leads me to believe me that there were multiple games going on at once which is why the live talk was only between rounds and probably broadcast to all games.
The adverts/waiting time would also be a good time to sync up all the games and let those a bit further behind catch up.

I wouldn't call that a flaw myself, 77,000 people playing and all watching one game, if the main participant quits out (I think one of the guys quit at an advert break, which I presume he figured was a crash?) then it has to re-sync and restart somehow.

The presenter thing I've no idea about, as we were in a party so couldn't hear any in-game chatter, but remember it's a beta, and for me, it's a f*cking good one!

Did anybody else have that game where The One got disconnected? I never saw it (was playing for between 8.30 and 9.30 though)

The host isn't scripted or pre-recorded, at least, it isn't supposed to be. The female one is the main one (and is pre-recorded, ie "ONE..versus..SEVENTY...TWO", but the male host is a LIVE host. In the US beta the guy makes comments about people's gamertags etc.

There were a few "one" disconnects in the first hour, but I don't recall any in the second hour, when the guy won 5000 (or was it 6000, can't remember now) we were exclaiming "that's £45-50!!!".

I meant "the lovely olivia" as the host, not the live guy, who wasn't prerecorded.

If it is one game why bother having a prerecorded voice at all, it'd make much more sense to have the guy you have employed to work for 2 hours do the whole thing?

Obviously they want people to play and even if they split the game off into 4-5 simultaneous there is going to be more interaction for all the people involved and people are more likely to log on and play it, which is what they want as I presume this is an excercise in selling advertising space between rounds.

Next time it runs maybe we can do a little experiment to see if that is the case or not.

                  edit

The better a member of The Crowd does, the better chance they have of being selected to be a part of The Mob or The One. Selection criteria is based upon statistics for speed, accuracy, and the number of questions answered for that week. A player can only be chosen as The One once per season and as a member of The Mob once per Primetime episode. Each season will give players an opportunity to earn another 200 gamerscore.

Boris, don't really want to argue with you, I'm 99% sure it's one big game. Everything I've read, experienced and been told backs that up. I can't argue that the blonde part should be live, and the same feedback has come from the US beta (Why not have HER live since she does the most talking and all the live host does is quip!).

I didn't get in the mob at all, yet I had fun. As I said, I think that'll last or a few live nights until I get frustrated at never having the chance to win anything, or influence anything.

How about you fire off a couple of the questions you had last night and we can tell you if we had them too? I'm just trying to think of questions from the second hour, I recall a question about "Lara Croft", I think that was in the second hour.

But once again, we had 5 people in our XBL Party last night, 2 of whom weren't in our "in-game" group of four, but had EVERY question we had, for 2 hours.

Edit: I don't buy that bit in italic either, Jim (Jimtendo from here) got into the mob on his first full go, he joined us mid 1st round and then was in the mob second round, how could he have got a high score in the crowd?

Yeah, looks like you are probably right.
They've done a fab job of integrating everything together into a very seamless experience.

With the Sky TV thing on the way as well I can't wait to see what other kind of social stuff MS has planned.

I think it's insane, I don't mean to keep harping on but when I finished playing and thought about what my wife and I had experienced...on a games console...I was blown away. People should be on their knees praising MS for this, to get that volume of people on a games console, prime time on a friday night...just wow.

I'm not too interested in the Sky TV thing (unless you can have it free if you already subscribe to sky) but like you, I'm intrigued about where MS are going, because 1vs100 is a truly next-gen experience that you couldn't get anywhere else previously.

Is this availiable now and are there games going on 24/7? I am quite stupid and only had a quick glance this morning.

No mate. YOu need to go look at the schedule via the dashboard. Quite a few regular games, but no live ones for a while.

They have set LIVE SHOWS and UNLIVE SHOWS. You can earn points throughout the week on UNLIVE SHOWS in hopes of a better chance of being in the MOB or the ONE.

They haven't confirmed if there will be a live show next Friday.

                              Full schedule here:

Most UNLIVE SHOWS are Mon-Fri 1830-2130. Each have a different trivia theme.

Cool, though that might be the case but I was worried that I was missing something.

                                Cheers for the help people
