No, the timing is done locally. Server sends question to your machine. Your machine puts the question up and starts the timer. When you answer, it sends the time back to the server. No latency involved.

Has anyone tried this using an autofire pad? I suspect that's all it is...

How can the timing be done locally? Aren't the questions streamed to you?

If not, does it download ALL the questions before you play, maybe that's how people are high scoring, hacking it etc.

Not in the sense that you think they are no.

Server sends question to player. It's text, probably bit of xml actually, and will be a few k at most.

Players console displays the question, then reveals the answers. As you press the button, it knows how long from the time it displayed the answer on your machine till you pressed the button. It then sends that to the server.

It doesn't matter if the question took longer to get to you then it did anyone else, because the displaying of the question and the timing is local to your machine.

Too much football questions again yesterday. Also I don't like the concept that the more you play through the week the higher the chance of being the one or in the mob. Means the people that have the most spare time have the highest chance of getting picked.

Apparently the scores are reset every week though, so you have to frag the extended plays EVERY week to raise your chances of getting into the mob or the one.

They can shove that m8 tbh be live nights at best. If that was the case then it doesnt make sense as we have seen the one be the same bloke twice and Jim got in mob within 15mins of it ever going live and we had been on longer lol We have also had rounds where at least one of us got every single question right and with perfect timing but still be way lower than the top 3.

I imagine there's a fairly equal chance for everyone really, though. Say, you start with one chance, and for every question you get right you get one extra chance to be the one. So if you don't do the extended play you'll have a 1/x chance of being The One/in The Mob, whereas if you do play, you'll have a 500/x chance, or something. I doubt it's compulsory, purely because otherwise the Mob/The One would always be geniuses.

Anyway, had a go at the football extended play a while ago, it was well rubbish. All the questions were stuff like "where was the UEFA cup held in 1973?" How would you know that unless it's your city? Mental. LOoking forward to the live show tomorrow, though

It'd be nicer if 1 vs 100 was just for the UK, rather than Europe. Each territory having a seperate beta. Because they have to design questions for Spain and France etc too, all they're left with is European finals, which is dull. Just who did coach Bulgaria in 1952? I'd love an English football themed EP, it'd be excellent, and the questions could have a bit more variety.
