Can't speak for anyone else but I plan to be playing for a while. It's definitely a long game for those that get hooked with players clocking hundreds of hours. Depends on when you plan to buy it.

With MH I've always preferred to mix it up. I'd say at least cover both one type of close combat and short range so that if a creature is giving you grief you can change tactics. Adding a close combat type with shielding to that mix is also a good idea. Some cc is all out offensive, long swords and hammers, while others let you block hits, useful when you encounter new creatures and aren't sure how they'll attack. Or when you are sure and don't want to be raped

It can be a good idea to have some variety, but you need to be proficient in using them all if you choose to do that. I only used the slash/switch axe for most of the game on- and offline. After I hit HR80 I started using the great sword and bowgun, and the hammer at about HR95.

I intend to be playing for a long while. I only stopped playing the Japanese version online because I didn't want to pay anymore. No online fees means this may never leave my Wii.

How come you have to pay for the online in Japan?

cause its an obsession and the Big N saw lots of $$$ signs or should that be yen signs , Capcom want MH to really take off in the west , so no online fees.

Are we going to be getting the exact same content? I imagine the fees covered new quests and stuff along the way for Japanese players?

I'm not sure Hoolak as i sold my japanese Wii, as i thought monster hunter tri was coming out earlier in the UK. Kryss would be the best person to answer this.

Sales of MHP2ndG have apparently broken the 4 million mark in Japan.

Capcom charges online fees for MHGii as well, and they're the same price. Why do they charge? No idea. I think they might have done it simply because they could. New MH on a massively popular console must have brought $$ to their eyes.
I'm guessing all the Event Quests (special online only ones that change on a regular basis) will be the same. New ones would be nice too.

After paying ~6700yen for MH3+CCPro, then 3600yen in online fees, I'm really looking forward to not paying more than the cover price of the game. CA$52.49 including tax = win.

What I'm really looking forward to is fighting Jien Moran (Dien Mohran is the English name I think).

I'm going to go geek and jot down the number of times I've caught/killed monsters. BRB...

Why more catches than kills? It's easier. Be sure to cut tails/break horns/etc. first though.

I'm guessing you never got nabaru deus' armour set then? It's the one I want the most but I know it's going to be a total pain in the arse due to it being an elder dragon.

Have you seen the western names for the monsters btw? Gonna take a while to stop calling them by their Japanese names when I'm online.

The only thing I needed was the ball/crystal/whatever. Everytime I got one I used it to make a weapon. I was happy enough in my full Evil Joe armour though. Plus I had full Jien Moran armour and most weapons too.

Amazon are getting it ready to ship! Now for it to get from Ontario to Alberta...*sigh*
