If only they'd release DLC skin packs of Bananaman that went with this game!

      Banana skins?

I think I imagined there was ever a Bananaman game. Seems there wasn't ever one. I thought I remembered there being like a £1.99 game once. Maybe not.

Was there really no Bananaman game ever?

I thought it was a good game, not as good as the hype but good nonetheless. Glad I chose to play it on Hard as, annoying boss battles aside, it made the multiple armed-goon battles very strategic. Didn't really like the visuals too much, looked kinda grainy and, probably thanks to the overused Unreal engine, somewhat generic. But it had great gameplay and atmosphere and, while not matching the magnificence of either, reminded me of a cross between Metroid and Bioshock. Good game.

And throwing a rifle into the mix is totally unfair.
Use your batclaw to down the goons then take 'em out for good with the floor takedown (RT & Y), rinse and repeat.

Plus, use detective mode and/or watch the dropped weapons! If the enemies are getting close to them or have just picked them up, ignore everything else and go straight for those guys. It took me a couple of tries until I focused on taking out whoever picked up the guns as soon as I could.

Finished this last night - very enjoyable. Borrows lots of ideas from all over the shop and puts it all together in a very sleek, presentable Batman skin. Not groundbreaking, just very good at what it does. Can imagine though if I was a major Batman fan that this would have given me very moist underwear.

Had a quick stab at some of the challenge rooms and they seem to be quite enjoyable additions too. Was quite pleased that on my first attempt of a combat one I got 3 medals and the achievement for not getting hit, very satisfying. Did get some of the other tricky ones during the game too, like the 40 hit combo. Combat in general within the game does have its frustrations though - most notably with the attack indicators above the enemies not being particularly reliable - but it is very satisfying when you do take out an entire room full of people in one nicely strung together combo.

Will perhaps revisit this some day to finish all of the challenges / hard mode but for now there are too many other games on the backlog!

Always scan a room in detective mode first, especially if there are enemies about, as more often than not the environment can be used to dispatch them

I just love hanging down from gargoyles like im spidey

Is there any benefit to this? Couldn't find any use for it other than it looking cool :P

Umm, you hang upside down and use the gargoyles to string up bad guys?... its one of the main gameplay mechanics used throughout the game.

But you don't have to hang upside down to string them up. Pressing B drops you down on a wire where you can either drop down (which you can do anyway) or return to the top of the gargoyle.

Havent played it for a bit but I think youre wrong, you have to be hanging upside down before you can grab anyone from what I can remember.

Nah, it pops up with a Y when they're underneath you regardless of whether you're hanging or not. That's why I never understood the purpose of it.

Really? actualy i thought you had to press Y to hang in the first place so shows how much I remember lol. I always thought you had to be hanging first though.

The original design probably required the player to be hanging first before focus testing/some ham-fisted producer made them streamline it, thus making the dangle redundant.

Arkham Asylum was sometimes too streamlined and slick for its own good (if such a thing is possible), most likely down to endless focus testing. Fair enough, that might come across as an absurd statement to make, but it's the slight roughness around the edges and odd nuances that games have that endear themselves to me. Overly focused games just seem too... safe.

Hopefully Rocksteady will take more risks with the sequel and build on its undoubtedly excellent combat engine with a braver take on the Metroid-style game structure than was evident in the first.
