I really think the presentation of the game in terms of animations etc take a hit due to being a Japanese developed game. Set in their ways, not massive production teams etc. I dunno, I think there will be a change and there already has been with Konami Japan getting stuck into community feedback. It's going to take time for them to adjust. Too late for many though

Well repeated playing and PES is a huge improvement in many areas. It does look great. Nice lighting too. But its so sluggish its untrue. I popped fifa on after and its a far better demo. Miles more fluid and the player control is outstanding. I scored a fantastic goal in stoppage time with Iniesta charging from box to box after starting a counter under no intruction from myself.

Ill leave you guys to discuss it. Here is hoping the fulll PES is better.

Adam from WENB has just posted this after trying the demo...

OK just played a match (way too short)

Like people anticipated code is old, reminds me of the code I had at 75% - but seems a tad sharper. Really bad response issues, these are so much better in the code I have. Secondly I've seen AI take over your player, this is non-existent in the 90% code. It was in the previous code I had, but not as common as this one short match in the demo!

Also, silly things players running away from throughballs are in the demo.

I don't think there's any doubt you can score great goals in FIFA, it's just the sound and feel of hitting the ball is a bit floaty.

lol, that's the mirror opposite of my issues with it.

Yes the shooting in PES is certainly more satisfying. Its funny how we are having opposite issues!

Old code my arse, this happens every year and it never turns out any different.

From the masses of time i put in to pes'09, i can see the main differences in the dibbling and running on to through balls, seems alot easier to do compared to last years where a defenders always won out on a through ball tussle and control(which i'll get to later). Sadly the rest of the game bar the great graphics(i love the filter they use, very world cup94 and vitural striker in the arcades'esk) has not.

Keepers are just as terrible, stupid canned animations, stupid parrying of shots that didn't need to be, horrible, horrible return of the keeper sliding in on 1v1 with the ball ping ponging between the attacker and the keeper, the awkward look of the keeper parrying the ball 1 foot away then takes an ever to glitch into a random pickup animation.

Control seem to have changed, i don't know if they've changed the respones to button pressing but there is lag between pressing the the action being finished, rarely in the games i've played did a defender just whack it away for a clearance they always took touch to control then kick it away even though i'd pressed the shoot button before it arrivied at the player, the same goes for shooting, always take a touch instead of just 1 timing a smash even if its been passed on to the correct foot.

i won't even go into the sound effects, still bad and still last years.

I spent all last year defending pes'09 from stoppy, a game i liked enough to put countless hours into the BAL mode but Fifa is the better game this year by far.

PES 2010 turned out to be better than I expected, but I fully agree. FIFA is lightyears ahead anyway. PES feels robotic due to the lack of 360 dribbling and old animations. In FIFA it looks so much better when 2 players are battling for the ball... Take the lack of licensed leagues in account, and I personally see no point in buying PES.

Also, this PES demo is very easy imo. It didn't take that much to beat Barca on Top Player. All goals I made so far, went in via the goalie, that was funny.

Just played a few games and I think FIFA will once again be my footy game of choice this year.

I used to be huge PES fan (I even tried to defend the abomination that is PES 2008) but that has now changed. Everything about the gameplay just seems so automated and rigid. I didn't really feel like I was playing a free-flowing game of football. FIFA 10 feels much more natural and fluid, you don't feel restricted.

Saying that though, it is not an awful footy game by any means. There is still some fun to be had and I might even pick it up if the online actually works. I noticed quite a big improvement to the visuals/presentation, glad to see the developers have worked on that side of the game.

I think Konami have made a step in the right direction with PES 2010 but still are a step or two behind EA and FIFA 10. Unless they make some major changes (or EA mess up) I think that will always be the case this generation.

The PS3 demo is up but you have to use the search function (one of the small logos on top of PS Store page) then just put in PES and search.

That's the way I see it personally, FIFA 10 is better than PES 2010. I would be lying if I stated otherwise.

I still think PES 2010 plays a decent game of footy and I even thought the same about PES 2009. At the end of the day though you can only really have one football game you truly love to play (online or offline) and for the last two years FIFA has been the one for me.

So far, I'm having the now annual feelings of disappointment and asking the question, where did it all go wrong? For me, the series has managed to go backwards since making the leap to next-gen and the statements from Seabass each year remind me of the stuff that EA used to come out with about 8 years ago when a new Fifa was about to be released.

There just seems to be a real lack of direction and conviction about what they want to do with the series each year. Things seem to change each year now, but instead of refinements and progress, they just seem to be totally different, as if they can't make their minds up as to how the game should play and feel. The thing that used to mark PES out for me was that each year the game would be refined, but not lose the core appeal and playability.

I've already mentioned the similarity with EA of old where Fifa was concerned, but the way the series is going, Konami now seem to even be trying to emulate the dev side of EA where there was a massive lack of consistency from year to year. Meanwhile we have EA making statements about what elements they're refining in the new version while keeping the core of the game the same.

                                Strange times.

The main difficulty for me now is that since the first revision of PES on the 360, I've bought a few versions and regretted each one, with it being traded or lying on the shelf gathering dust. Do I want to risk buying this version and potentially making the same mistake again? Am i the only one thinking like this?

Or do I just need to keep the faith and stick with the new one?

Will be interesting to see the reviews and comments on here once the full game is released, but its also difficult to judge at times because of some people's unerring support for Fifa or PES.

                                All interesting stuff I guess
