The Ps3 should of been delayed so that it could have GF8 tech inside. I see RSX as a bottleneck for numerous reasons. GF7 just sucked, Xenos outperforms it. But thats a Sony thing, I thought the Graphics Synthesizer was crap too.

As for the RAM allocation... its kind of boggling but its still there. If the Ps3 would be the cashcow like its predecessors, it would most likely be the lead console for most franchises. Some games in this case, like DMC4 and Burnout, have better performance on the Ps3. If those guys really want, they can.

I thought the idea was that the SPEs could be used to perform tasks usually handled by the graphics chip? In fact, is that not what Naughty Dog have done (I thought I read that somewhere but may be entirely wrong!)? It's just different architecture really isn't it? I think it's probably hard to quantify which is better. PS3 seems like harder work to develop for but the results that the best devs are getting so far seem to indicate that PS3 is more than capable of delivering visuals that satisfy. The 4 best looking games I've seen this gen are all exclusives running on PS3 (Uncharted 2, MGS4, Killzone 2 and Wipeout HD) and are all very different types of game. I think it'll remain very rare to see a multiplatform title that doesn't run better on a 360 though.

Agree totally! I know this is a bit OT for first play, but it really is related to the game. We are all just gob smacked at what the devs pulled off!

Naughty Dog show "nuff love" for the SPEs in the documentaries on the disc. Some of the stuff they get the PS3 doing is staggering!

Just a quick lunch-break before I get stuck back into it.

But I can safely say that the first three hours already contain some of my favourite gaming moments of all time and that the first ten minutes are my favourite first ten minutes of any game, in the history of all games. Ever.

Like the very best films, this game gets me itching to discuss everything I've played through with my mates - more-so than any other game I've ever played; there have been dozens of "water-cooler moments" already and I'm only on Chapter 7. But none of them have PS3s and so they just wouldn't give a damn.

But, jeez, they should give a damn. There is some utterly essential gaming going on in this game that anyone with an interest in videogames should experience.

From now on, I'm going to envy every single person who gets to play Chapter 1 and those Nepal set-pieces for the first time.

Right now, though, I'm going to get stuck back into it and experience more exhilarating splendour for the first time myself. I've been over-hyped for games many, many times before, resulting in them failing to come even close to meeting my expectations. But this... this hasn't just met my sky-high hopes for the game. It's shattered them.

The graphics are understandably being salivated over, but I just wanted to give some praise to the sound in this game, which is absolutely fantastic. Last night when I played it there was an explosion and debris was dropping down all around me afterwards. And the door to my room is right by the rear right speaker, so when there was a knock at the door from that direction in one scene I thought it was someone actually there. Playing in 5.1 PCM BTW

But yeah, it looks incredible too. I played through to

                    Kathmandu

and it kept outdoing itself, with the opening followed by the

                    rainforest

                    and then the
. Little effects like the way snow or water affect clothing and the

                    blood on Nate's hand

at the beginning just look so lifelike.

Can't wait to see what else this has to offer. I was up playing it until almost 2am last night.

some of the little back and forth quips are hilarous

my game crashes on the last chapter, read about this on gaf too, thank god the autosave wasnt corrupted

dont read unless youve cleared the game

i thought they were going to go for the hollywood ending where they use the tree of life to save elena, but they didnt, infact im sure thats in some crappy movie ive saw once in a while

gg though, loved the colours and world, it looks amazing, love the characters and voice work, love the music, great story - twists and turns and plays on what we knew and saw in uncharted 1, bloody scared me in parts too like the original <3 aeryn sun (I forget the actresses name) however its got to be elena all the way

                              Best game ever.

Until the last boss, when it becomes the worst game ever.

Edit: The ending is great though, easpecially when

you find out what a 10 is.

After putting some serious time into this today (about 5 hours, I just couldnt stop), the only thoughts running through my head were akin to "Oh my god, this is a bit good isnt it?!"

The remarks about it being like an action movie probably havent been understood by the people who have yet to play the game. The levels arent just levels, they actualy do feel like set peices from a movie, theres tons of stuff happening around you as you play, you feel like youre taking part in somthing so increabley spectacular, and in this regard there hasnt been anything quite like it before.

I'm on chapter 12 now and it just seems to get more and more jaw dropping as it goes on, its such a mind blowing experience, and you have to wonder, could they make a more exciting game this generation?
