Just completed this again myself over the past week and it was every bit as engrossing as it was on release. Really is a classic game and fully deserving of every bit of praise it gets.
Decided to create a fresh profile for this attempt so everything started from scratch. Much better treasure completion this time (75/100) and found the Strange Relic. Hopefully can get the rest but the majority are hidden much better than they were in Drake’s Fortune. In the first game, for the majority you just had to make sure you checked every corner/ledge with very few genuinely ‘hidden’. Much trickier here with some genuine secret areas you need to hunt out. I don’t know how I only got 2 out of 8 on monastery. Thought I scoured that place pretty well.
Plan to start on Hard tonight which will hopefully get me the remaining treasures/medals then can have a focussed Crushing run for Platinum trophy.Comment

I find this dull. I've done a few chapters, and it's been utterly boring for about 3/4 of it. My problem is while the story and cutscenes are decently done, for a game, they're ultimately not that important when it comes to the gameplay. Which is pretty average as cover based shooters go. It's sort of 50 cent/Army of Two class - the weapons are rubbish, the AI irritating and most of the combat seems devoid of any point other than to slow you down. I'd rather Gears of War, which has solid combat and a dodgy story to the other way round. Doesn't matter how nice your cutscenes are, if the game is average it'll always be average. Also, some of the puzzles are hideously game like. Rotating mirrors to deflect light beams? Really? REALLY?
7/10 game dressed in 9/10 clothes.Comment

To be honest I played this at a time when I wasn't enjoying gaming.
I can sort of agree with what Calvacade is saying because of that. I started on Hard and found it to be more of a chore than I was expecting.
A good game but not amazing. Before I say any more I am going to repurchase it (maybe today) and go and play through it again to make sure.Comment

Don't worry, I'll photo myself with croissant shoulder pads when I get a moment.
To summarise. Uncharted 2 - Freedom Fighters class gameplay, straight to DVD class cutscenes with delusions of grandeur, but some quite attractive graphics and fairly imaginative set pieces. Overrated in my opinion.Comment

With this threads revival and MW2 being pretty much done for me I went back to this for the online and I can see what you mean about the gunplay in Gears being done better. There's a sluggish timing to the animation of it in this compared the the more point to point nature of Gears. That said, it's probably the only thing Gears has over this. Plus, everytime I run I don't have to watch a close up of a steroid junkies ass shaking
