My wheel does the same thing so assume it's normal. In reality it's probably only a millimetre or two's travel but it is noticeable.

I also have a tendency of applying a bit of light downward force when using mine with the wheelstand which creates some rather disconcerting 'plasticky' creaking noises!! Seems robust enough though.

One thing that is a bit underwhelming about F3 is the the force feedback effect - more like muted rumble. Just got a copy of Dirt2 and the feedback in some of the offroad events is superb and it makes the driving experience much more engaging.

Nice one, cheers for putting my mind at rest.

Hope the wheelstand pro is working out for you

Mine has been great so far. Spent a couple of days with the spanner and allen key to hand so i could adjust the angle of the wheel as it faces me. Might be worth having a tweak to eliminate some of the downward pull you are applying. Or maybe you are just gripping the wheel for dear life

Yeah, I'm really chuffed with it

It really does make a big difference compared to clamping the wheel to a desk or table in terms - nice to be able to adjust the wheel around me rather than the other way round if you know what I mean?

Have spent a bit of time with the spanner & allen key too and think I have almost got it where I want it. Still applying 'downforce' but will hopefully get that sorted!

I wish they had a Tourist Driving style session on the Nurburgring in the game...

I’ve got quick question for anyone who owns the Ultimate Edition of Forza 3.

It apparently contains all the bonus content, however does this all come on disc or only as DLC codes?

            Comment

Well I have that one I think you sold me, it came with DLC codes but I have no idea what edition it was.

All on the disc (selectively installed from Disc 2) except the Stig's Garage Pack which is a DLC code.

That was the LE original release, so it’s not the Ultimate Edition.

Brilliant, thanks for clearing that up!

Yeah i just got the ultimate edition as well, I think i'm right in thinking that there are two things you still need to download to have all the content. The VIP download and community choice pack. There is a thread here on the official forums.

I've been having a bit of fun running this together with GT5 on the same tracks to see the graphical differences. I think GT5 is a better package, but was suprised how much more detailed some of the same tracks were in Forza3 to GT5.

Slightly OT but did the same thing recently with GT3 and GT4 and found GT3 to be much nicer looking. GT4 is so sterile and grey.

I picked up the Ultimate Edition in the end, and had a really fun weekend drifting round the tracks and trying out the cars, it?s been a breath of fresh air after Gran Turismo 5.

I let my 360 go last year, mainly for the white hope of GT5 and I fancied The Last Guardian and Uncharted 3. During the time of being an exclusive PS3 owner, I played tens of hours on GT5 and even re-arranged my room so I could buy a Ikea chair with a Logitech Wheel and a Wheel stand pro, just for GT5!

With a 360 Slim under the TV I powered up Forza 3 again and was really impressed how much it wants you to play and enjoy it. Although the car models are not as detailed as Polyphony?s finest, it?s not as a bigger jump as is made out, and in some cases the detail is greater. Such as working screens and clocks where in GT there?s nothing. However the big strides where Forza is so much better is in scenery detail, sound and the entire structure of the game. I had already reached the highest Driver grade on my old save, but I found myself delving into the Career and have played many hours with it. You?re rewarded good cars from the off, prices are reasonable and the diversity of the tracks (GT repeated locations immediately early on in A-Spec) are a breeze to play through.

Driving a LFA with a Logitech Wheel Stand Pro Set up in Practise Mode was a religious experience, but in all other areas, GT5 fell flat. Forza 3 does have a smaller track list and has less cool niche features, but it trumps it in so many other areas, that it is the better game.

I would have to agree with all of that Wools. The only thing that lets Forza down is the lack of really amazing circuits. I find it more enjoyable by miles over GT.

I love the way you custom craft your posts for rllmuk and here Wools. Sign of a true artist.

I think my problem with Forza 3 is I have no inclination to play it because it seems to offer no framework for progression beyond the challenges I set for myself. It's almost too flexible. I can't seem to find a setting where the game is anything other than too challenging or too easy, and then the fact you can grind and upgrade the cars as well makes it all too flaccid for me. I guess it's the nature of the GT5/Forza beast.

Why thank you Sir, different markets and all that.

That’s true, GT is without question the most difficult and long term investment out of the two. However after a few months with GT, the only relief was the Seasonal events and the kind donations of Bassman and others for the high end F1 and Le Mans racers.

Although I do enjoy racing for money which then entitles you to more cars and races, I do wonder if there’s an alternative as it can lead to repetition and the dreaded grinding. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit locks high end cars and as you do races, it just gives you new cars and events. There’s no solver bullet as if you unlock everything then you could feel there’s no reason to play, but if you lock everything, it gets frustrating if the bar is set to high.

Hopefully Forza will continue to progress & GT6 will re-think what they force the player to do.

I must admit to tiring of GT5... to an extent. As for Forza 3, I have pretty much got bored with that as well. I never finished all the events either. I did however get all the cars, including the DLC ones! The expensive ones were a pain, though buying from the Auction House did save me a fair bit of money! I ought to load Forza again to see what Gift Cars I have received from Turn 10 (I bought the Limited Edition).

It is now, for me, almost just a matter of patiently awaiting Forza 4 I suppose, as the DLC for Forza 3 stopped with players choices pack (whatever it was called) at the beginning of the year or end of last year,

Wools, I noticed your posts at RLLMUK as well. I haven't actually contributed to the topic there. I am X there, so recently posted in the GT5 and Pokemon Black/White topics. My first posts there in a while.
