he actually not too bad if you time your attacks well. Be sure to time your blocks too. Mashing will get you nowhere (unlike fighting any other character in the game)!!

Playing the Nightmare Train level is about as much fun as drinking a pint of wee.

But I will complete it, goddamnit.

Put the gatling gun in the middle of the train properly start. Position it so you have a good angle to drill Devil-Jin off the train. Its how i beat it, that and good equipment.

Nightmare train is easy. Just make sure you have health bars fully extended, extra damage equiped, and some strong elemental attacks are handy too. Also remember as mentioned you can hit/shoot people off the side of the train (middle section).

You can mash Azazel to death by running up and doing the 1,2 punch combo over and over.

Played this in the arcade again yesterday and comparing the graphics there was none of the jaggies you get in the console version. Didn't particularly notice any other differences but others have said the the textures are better too.

                    I'm loving this.

A mate and I absolutely rinsed Tekken 2 and 3, but haven't played much Tekken against each other since. No lag (well not any that affected either of us) and two happy gamers.

I love the depth of characters and the whole Tekken feel. I'm no expert, but I'm holding my own online too. This game's ranked mode is excellent, with per character rankings and blind picks before each fight (unlike SF4 where you could, if you wanted, both pick and choose your opponent and counter pick characters).

I don't understand why this game doesn't get the praise that SFIV and even SCIV got, even Soul Calibur seemed to be more succesful. Imo, Tekken 6 is the best 3d brawler of this generation. Maybe the best overall brawler of this gen too. The lineup is sick, i'm now into the new characters and every single one of them is a worthy addition. My favourites are probably Zafina and Bob. Even Alisa seems to work out well, she's over the top but I enjoy fighting as her.

As far as online goes, its better than pre-launch (more gamers around) but its just not perfect enough to play like you can offline. I doubt this will be possible any time soon, a GGPO setup only seems to work out for 2d. I use much more pokes online, but its not nearly as skilless as Soul Calibur IV was.

                      Some weird mistakes though:

-why no usual simon sez move training?
-why no Arena mode in the main menu?
-the hud, its placed too low. Probably for SD users.
-Lars and Alisa... might give them Arena mode too.
                      -option to disable autosave

I think these things could easily be patched in.

Soul Calibur is a far more accessible game and the character customisation was actually more of a create a character mode, far deeper than anything in Tekken. Also lets not forget the Star Wars license which no doubt made it a bit more appealing to the mass. Tekken hasn't evolved enough as a fighter to draw new people in its the same tried and tested formula that has become really dull for many. The story is just an overly complicated and uninteresting mess.

I'd say the game needs to start a fresh with its story and the gameplay needs reworking if it wants to become as popular as it once was. Even Soul Calibur is really getting tired if it wasn't for the create a character I know many who wouldn't have been that bothered with IV.

As a long time fan I so still find 6 a solid game and enjoy playing it but deep inside even I'm starting to feel the same as the mass and hope that Namco do something more to make it a new and fresh experience.

Online actually works quite well if you play a player match with a friend in the same country and the upcoming patch can only make things better.

I'm glad the customization isn't like SCIV. I think that game lost its personality by completely making your own characters. Tekken's lineup is so strong and big, it doesn't need it. SCIV actually only added Hilde and that boss. SC has had always been more accessible than Tekken, but so far every single Tekken outsold SC by quite the margin. Right down to the PSP. Sure, Star Wars probably helped a bit but I don't think SCIV was really more succesful than its predecessors.

I think Tekken 6 might also have been released too late. Its being released in a window with lots of strong competition. People save up for CoD, who knows. I have the feeling that Ratchet is also going to suffer, and even Uncharted 2 (it deserves more imo).

Initially, Tekken 6 was planned for 2008. I remember it was being quite anticipated during the launch of the Ps3, more so than a new SC. Another problem however was the cold reception of vanilla Tekken 6 forcing Namco to update it and thus delaying the console version. In the end, we are better off with Bloodline Rebellion than with vanilla. But it could've been released a tad earlier imo, in like Spring. And yeah, Tekken 6's console version IS kind of sloppy here and there. This is the least polished home version i'm sure.

You could make those criticisms of almost all of the fighters though. Unfortunately there not likely to be revolutionary anymore. Both SF4 and SC4 even went backwards in some ways. You could also say that of a lot of the yearly updates of games like PES and Fifa.

Their competitive games though and that's where the longevity and appeal come from. A new game brings in some new elements and additions to the characters and the way you compete then changes and you've got new things to learn.

There's actually plenty of hidden moves and techniques in the game that can make a significant difference to a character's ability. It's really eye opening when you see a master of a particular character doing things with them you never thought possible. Stuff like EWGF, wavedash, back dash cancel, Bryan taunt cancel shenanigans, Hayashida step and many many others. I'll try and find some good vid examples.

I think Tekken 6 is a decent fighter and would undoubtedly be among my most played games right now if the netcode was better. As it stands its just getting lots of casual bursts.

Agreed it came a little too late and the busy release window but would it really have sold that much more otherwise? especially given the quality of the port not being up to back in the day Namco standards.

BTW never said SCIV was better just what I thought helped it sell. Both games need something new that is refreshing if they want more people to pick up SCV or Tekken 7.

Aside from the jaggy and laggy issues Tekken 6 can still be a fun game. It has the biggest line up of characters ever along with the best looking animation in any fighter but since little has changed in the way it plays I really don't feel excited or compelled to keep playing it. Focus attacks may not have radically changed the way Street Fighter is played but at least it gave me something different and a little more interesting to contend with. I don't think rage, bound or smash-able floors gives me much more to contend with in Tekken, these features have been in other fighters for years and even back then they were more gimmicky than actual interesting features. At the moment a lot of fighters keep getting tweaks and customisation, every developer is afraid to touch some of the basic systems or add things that will really change the game for a more pronounced freshness that is better.

I don't think its a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but rather "people might be getting a little bored with this maybe we should take another look at it from the ground up". FIFA and Pro are sims which is why they can get away with the model of tweak and improve, on the other hand fighters are interpretations of how fighting works. At the end of the day I like fighters and only keep buying them because the current format is the only format they exist in but I still wish they would evolve properly and were more interesting particularly in areas where movement and blocking is concerned.
