This is truly an incredible game!

So stylish, so fun to play. Platinum Games should be very happy with what they have created.

Yes, it's like DMC / Ninja Gaiden et al but the difference between this game and those is that I can actually feel myself improving the more I play. Some of the combos that I have pulled off have been nothing short of ridiculous in terms of the moves that Bayonetta does and everything feels so slick. It also helps that you can dodge / cut a combo short whenever you want to go and kick the crap out of something else.

Loving the nods to past games, be they Clover, SEGA or whatever

Just had Luka talking about the girls that will be angry if Bayonetta kills him: Claire, Sylvia, Ammy

      .

All-in-all a fantastic start to 2010 for AAA gaming!

        Just seen this posted on Saur's Youtube;

        Nice.

It's a bit good, isn't it? Not sure I'd go for the full Edge 10, but I can certainly see why someone would think it deserves it. I'm only a couple of hours in and doing... okay one-on-one, it's just the big rucks where I'm struggling to see or hear the cues with so much going on. My individual medals so far range from bronze to the odd pure plat, but using multiple continues and items on the odd tough fight my overall is always stone.

Partly I'm going to insist that's down to the dire PS3 port. Christ, I'm not normally bothered by these things but in this case, just... ick. If I had a 360 still I'd be trading the PS3 copy in tomorrow - I think it says a lot for how superb the fighting system is that I'm willing to put up with this. Screen tearing, poor textures, horrendous loading pauses (though at least the level loads give you the chance to practice)... anyone who has the choice between the two shouldn't need to think about it.

At the same time I am also enjoying the atmosphere. Really, really surprised by how much this game has won me over - I thought it was oversexed drivel when I saw the early teasers, but for all the story is obvious nonsense it's actually pretty cleverly written, surprisingly engaging nonsense. Voice acting's not bad, jokes are funny, nerd injokes are neat and it's kind of, whisper it, even a little bit emotional. A good friend of mine won't go anywhere near it, insisting she's just for 14-year-old boys to jerk off over... obviously I'm not going to pretend that's not part of Sega's marketing plan but I really wish I could make him see how wrong I think he is.

Did Saur do the official strat guide? I want it, but it looks like it has been delayed as no one has it in stock. I do wish this game had a full on training mode to practice moves & combos though.

Sorry, I wasn't being sarcastic. I wrote that post early in the morning so I wasn't thinking too well. It is true when I say that I think all sport games are dull though

After countless CGI cut scenes and repeat boss battles, I finished it... thank God, didn't think it would ever end. Most of the chapters post chapter 9 was just a grind.

                  It does.

On 360, Press the 'Back' button on the controller while you're in the loading screen and you'll see 'Practice Mode' on the top of the screen.

It will then lock you into practice for as long as you want. Press Back again to exit and start the level.

                    Oh. My. Goddy-wods.

Am up to chapter 8 now, and almost totally in love with the chuff. Some of the enemy designs are just awe-inspiring. I love how Platinum and Clover's previous designs have bled into Bayonetta's. There's a subtle whiff of Okami's various gods in Bayonetta's hair summons. I kinda like her weird proportions too, I think they enhance some of the downright bizarre moves she does in the cut-scenes.

It's err, fun to play too. Everything is just so stylish or humourously done. Love how fights piddle about with gravity and surfaces, and yeah, all the references are a nerdy fellas dream. It's just so darned vibrant too...

I'm playing on't PS3, and whist I was determined the port wouldn't get to me, it's so shockingly tod. The frame-rate I'm generally okay with, but it's all the bizarre loading that's my beef. It's getting to be a real problem as the game gets tougher (Grace and Glory...Grrrr!), and to have to load the text for an item you've collected or to skip an already viewed cinematic is something new to me.

That said, it's a bloody amazing game so far...can't wait to play more.

The odd thing is while I'm still crap and relying on items far too often, I'm not finding Grace and Glory that difficult. Maybe you're all playing on Hard, I dunno.

It is a gorgeous fighting system. I'm having to drag myself away... it's like DMC made accessible, with moves that, you know, actually look different and it feels like playing Soul Calibur for the first time again in that even when I resort to button mashing I can feel a pattern of 'okay, so if I do that, then that, then that this happens' developing and I can start to pull off particular moves more regularly. Just a joy to play, even when I'm not doing that well, which I think is the main thing that kicks this way, way up the rankings. Dunno about a perfect 10 but it's certainly something very special.

Not that it matters much, but eh, RockPaperShotgun actually make me mildly angry, implying that the female journalist who wrote a 'why Bayonetta's not that bad, actually' article must have been doing it to get hits out of salivating male nerds. Because, you know, there's no difference at all between Bayonetta and Rachel from Ninja Gaiden. Or Lara Croft, come to think of it, as one idiot in their comments thread observes. Angryface, says I. Angryface.

Yes, he worked on it for months before the release

I'm now playing Hard mode dressed in a swin suit butthe strangest thing happened after Bayonetta finished a move. She spoke in Japanese! As far as I know there's no Japanese speech option in the game, only subtitles so where did that Japanese speech come from? Has anyone else noticed that? It maybe only a glitch since after 32 hours of play that's the first time it's happened.

Yakumo: She speaks Japanese at the end of this.
