Have to agree. I tried to convince myself that I could live with how the PS3 version performed, but halfway through I snapped. It was ruining my experience. I sold it just before the US/EU release to get my money back.

Just got to the end of chapter 2 (the one with the double headed dragon) and after having initial doubts when buying it, I must say I`m loving it. Thing is I can`t really point my finger on what makes this so good, as It doesn`t really tred any new ground.
I think it helps with it not constantly spamming you with fights after fights all the time and theirs time inbetween to chill, explore a little, upgrade and watch the cut scenes. The combat system Is very good upto yet and much prefer it to DMC and the boss fights have been pretty good to with them not being to easy or to hard either.
Playing the 360 version over VGA which looks lush, but I have noticed screen tearing rear it`s head a few times, but not enough to bother me tbh. Overall glad I`ve brought it, not sure If it warrents an Edge 10 though by what I`ve played upto yet.

Jump and do a 360 on the left-stick and press kick/punch depending of you have the Durga on hand or feet.

I've received this today. Played about an hour. I'm not feeling anything special yet. I'm finding the music is really overpowering the voices, so have had to tweak my surround sound system which is annoying as it sounds great for everything else.
I know I'm only an hour into it, but I had to quit out due to having to go to work, yet it didn't seem to save at all (even though it said it did), so I'm having to start at the beginning again which is irritating. Oh well. Give me more of a chance to get used to the controls.

It's not an "Edge 10" IMHO; it breaks no new ground, it could be longer, there are too many cut scens and the puzzle element is under-used. However, the game is completely bonkers, controls beautifully, is fun as hell and just gets better and better. It's hard not to love it if you're a fan of the genre.
great game, abit to much 'dynasty warriors' button mashing though

Dynasty Warriors?? You're joking right? This game has had so much love and attention put in to it were as Dynasty Warriors is your typical churn 'em out button bashing crap. Older gamers will love this much more probably due to all the Sega and Capcom notices of days gone by. The game also will be loved by those who really enjoy their Virtua Fighter and Tekken games.
By the way, I have a feeling that the music was changed in the UK version if the TV adds are anything to go by. Is the main battle theme "Fly me to the moon?". I'm also loving the British accents. They go so well with the characters, much better than American and dare I say a Japanese version. Sounds wonderful.
I wouldn't give Bayonetta 10/10 but it's sure a fantastic game that EVERY 360 owner should buy along with Mushihime sama. PS3 owners may want to try first if the comments on review sites are anything to go by.

I do love the game! Theres no doubt its a lovely looking, fluid and feels really fresh. What i meant by that comment is that most players will find themselves resorting back to a bit of mashing, rather than learning its deep combat/combo system (especially the casual gamer). Its the nature of the 'DMC' genre). I think Mushihimesama is a bit of a required taste (as is most cave stuff). I prefer a more traditional type shooter such as Raiden DX, Raystorm, Einhander etc. I love shooters (they are my fav gaming genre), but i think there is way better than Mushihimesama (and before you all get in a lather, its only my opinion

ah man im fking useless at this game, its like dmc3 all over again
i hate the way that after a cutscene the enemy can hit you immediately too,
the various capcom/sega references tho are quite a laugh, but i can see the game in general pissing me off beyond belief
I dunno why but dmc4 i found just perfect, but 3 would always drive me insane
/sigh i hate being ****eLast edited by Largo; 09-01-2010, 15:08.

Yeah so this is pretty good, not sure if it is 10/10 good though.
Got to chapter 3 last night and I enjoyed quite a bit. The key to combat (at the moment) seems to be all about nailing the witch time and unleashing hell on the enemies from there. I'm not really great at these type of games but it seems to be pretty "welcoming" while providing a decent enough challenge too.
Combat is fun and even with my limited abilities at the moment, it seems to have some variety to it. Characters, story, cut-scenes and generally everything else is way over the top but I guess that is what makes the game what it is. Visually the game is certainly a treat for the eyes, even if at times it is hard to process due the crazy stuff that is happening on-screen.
I look forward to playing some more tonight, hopefully the later chapters remain as "welcoming" as the first few but somehow I don't think that will be the case.

A lot of the difficulty can be avoided through good use of Witch Time. Dodge as much as you possibly can and look out for the clues that telegraph and enemy's attack. These can simply be them drawing back a weapon ready to thrust, a part of their weapon glowing, or a noise of some sort.
Look out for those warnings, dodge just after them, and you should activate Witch Time, leaving them helpless for a bit. Aside from that, keep your distance and pepper them with bullets.

Keeping your distance is bad advice imo, the enemies will not just sit around waiting for you to wake them up, but you want them to be coming for you HARD (taunting is a great way to get them raged) so you can evade and then attack. Shooting them keeps reseting the combo-timer but you also need to be getting at them instead of trying to crowd control. Once you get into the flow its wonderful stuff, just be aggressive with your offense and try and be as creative during the attack wiindows.
