Hmm. Not really liking chapter VIII, low point of the game for me so far.

    The

    bike section

went on for way too long and the starting bit wasn't fun at all, quite poorly designed actually.

That's what I been trying to say. There's seems to be too prise for this game. After Chapter 9, its just becomes boring and the cut-scenes are painfully dull, long and make no sense.

Don't get me wrong, its still a good game but not great. The fights are mostly fun but imo after chapter 9 you already experienced the best the game has to offer.

I love the game, but like Ezee I do find the arcadey sections way too long & tedious. Same goes for Angel Attack, can't stand that either.

Other than those, the game still gets a 9/10 from me because at its heart its an amazing technical action game & a worthy successor to any other title in the genre.

          Brick wall time.

          Stuck on a section where

you open chests to collect the parts of a key that has been broken by some LEGO planet. Naturally some of the chests are booby trapped so when you open them you're hit by an enemy the second the lid comes off!!

Still loving it but I think the 10 may be a tad too high. Maybe the Edge review scores it that way as a counter to the whole "the Japanese games industry is struggling" piece they ran the other month?

Off to buy some more green lolipops!

when you've opened all the chests and assembled the key, there should be some floating-rotating translucent platforms ahead.

I know the section you are on about teddy. Chapter IX right?

              You have the

"LEGO" sphere smashing down on you every few seconds, while Grace or Glory also try and rip you to shreds.

It is made even worse by the fact that you

sort of stumble when the "LEGO" sphere smashes the ground so you are basically a sitting duck for a few seconds in the eyes of Grace or Glory.

Don't worry it's very much doable though, just takes a few tries. I just finished that chapter myself and the end mini-boss battle is pretty cool.

                It's more the fact that

I can't seem to best the enemies that emerge from the chests. I did it earlier on but died shortly after that so stopped playing for a bit assuming it had saved. It hadn't. So I've had to start the whole level again but can't seem to beat the frickin' monsters now

In Chapter IX, as soon as you smash the chest, run to and fight the enemies at the higher part of that area. You won't be interrupted.

Also, dodge right after destroying the chest.

Well, deserved or not I think that is pretty much the way it reads. Whether or not you think they did it as desperate backpedalling rather than praising a game they genuinely thought earned it is another matter, of course.

Oh yes but that was different speech than what I got. It's also in a different voice from the normal Bayonetta voice. I wonder if there was originally going to be a Japanese version.

In that You Tube clip Bayonetta said "Ju-nen Hayai dayo!" which basically translated means "You've got 10 years to go" or as we'd say in English, "You've got a long way to go before you beat me!"

That section was by far the worst on the PS3 port performance-wise. I released all the beasts at once and there was simply too much going on that the game couldn't handle it. The timing for the dodge went right out of the window which imo makes the game unplayable (at that point). So if you are playing the PS3 version don't be too hard on yourself mate.

The worst has to be the infamous area of XV. But actually, with bat within you'll cross it within 10 seconds or so. Its stupidly easy, unless you're going for the chests (which is still fairly easy).

Hmmm... only on chapter 6, but I'm tending towards a 9 at the moment. It just lacks enough polish to put it in the absolute top flight. Rather too many cheap deaths and it does get very, very hard to track the audio and visual cues when you've got five or six enemies attacking at once. I'm still greatly enjoying the game, but eh, that jump - clear it in panther form? I don't doubt it's possible, but I'm still clearly falling short every bloody time and kicking me back to a checkpoint plus adding another continue was just a little too snarky. I'm not doing that fight beforehand fifty damn times when the jump just screams that it can't be done, regardless of what the FAQs are telling me. Guess I'm off to halo farm to pick up flight - I like that I can do that, but I really shouldn't have to.

                              ^^

Not sure I know what jump you are on about.

Just after the Grace and Glory fight. You get to a group of regular enemies on a long bridge, the bridge falls away, the flavour text for it says 'trying that in human form would be suicide', I try it in panther form and fall short every damn time, and when I fail it kills me, puts me back at a checkpoint and (obviously) adds a continue. It's just a little harsh compared to everything else so far, and with the PS3's horrible load times on top of that I just don't want to do it or think I should have to.

Still a great, great game so far, and if it keeps ramping it up (as people on forums I read are repeatedly yelling it does ) it's not hard to see why the hardcore love it so much. But you can see the rough edges, as it were. It's not Uncharted 2, and the thing is in its own way I think it wants to be ('Look at me! Look at all this crazy **** I'm letting you do! Did you see the size of that thing?' etc., etc.) so I don't feel bad about criticising it for falling a little short in some respects.
