Played some more of this and got into it a bit more now.

While my previous complaints still stand I am finiding the game a bit more managable now ive actualy learnt what a few of the combos are and am a bit more comfertable with the dodging. Its actualy really easy just to constantly use the PPPKKK combo over and over as it does huge ammounts of damage and the final wicked weeve kick not only hits enemies from miles away but is also one of the strongest in the game it seems.

I'm also finiding it easier now Ive equiped the sword I got earlier in the game, I wasnt told how to equip weapons and so I'd completely forgotten Rodin had given me it.

Just finished this on normal and, like I said previously, it is a good game (very good at times) but I do think it has been overrated quite a bit.

There is no denying that the game is fun but some sections are just so poorly designed (chapters VIII and XIV are the worst offenders) that they drag the game down for me. Also certain battles are a tad bit unfair but I guess that is the draw with games like this, the challenging nature.

Like I said though, the game is fun and there is a lot to like about it. The over the top theme, the strange enemies, some awesome boss battles, the varied combat and the vibrant visuals. All these features come together to produce good action game which contains some astounding moments. Only a Japanese developer could create a game like this!

In some ways Bayonetta sums up the performance of Japanese developers during this generation of console gaming. They have bundles of creativity and imagination but are still stuck in the past with much of their core design. Definitely not a 10/10, more like a solid 8.

EDIT - What the hell was that random

"music video" about at the end of the credits?!

      Funny stuff!

I loved Chapter XIV, it's clearly a nod towards After Burner/Space Harrier and provided a welcome deviation from the hack, slash and platforming action. I fluked the achievement for beating the first 2 verses with platinum medals on my first go which made me like the chapter even more.

Am up to chapter XVI now and feel I'm nearing the end. Pity as I really don't want it to end.

ok this game is a bit good, managed to distract me from darksiders for a day.

however, the game just blatantly pointed out to me how rubbish I am. found one of those secret areas (alfheim?) where you have to fight grace and glory using only 10 kicks and 10 punches. I ended up just leaving, never even got close. I suppose I should properly learn some of the more varied combos but even then I don't see how it would be possible...

and while I'm talking about grace and glory, is it just that I'm really bad or are they very unfair? For the most part they seem like any other enemy but if you get hit up into the air by them, you're gone. they do another 3 hits which I don't seem to be able to dodge, taking a huge chunk out of your health. I'm up to a bit where you have to fight 2 of them in a row and I've already died about 5 times...

Yeah, i'm not sure exactly how youre suppose to do those challenge room things, they feel impossible.

Once youve unlocked the panther form you can also buy a bat form which makes it so you can press RT/R2 as youre attacked and even if youre hit you will still enter witch time, that helps alot when they are juggling you in the air.

i'm not sure but using Shuraba in your hands and Durga on your feet might help with the challenge room too. Shuraba's charge attack is really powerful and if you have Durga equiped attacking them with the oposite form to what they actualy are (ie attack the fire one with lighting and vice versa) probabaly does alot of damage too.

The 10 punches/kicks challenges can be done with Katana charge, Durga charge and Kilgore rockets.

There is so much to think about in this game, its mind blowing.

The majority of the Alfheim portals are very managable when you know how to do them.

The single punch/kick ones are easy when you use Durga/Kilgore, pretty much like the rest of the game actually... Does feel a bit 'ezmode'.

I ended up just repeating P(hold), P(hold), P(hold), K(hold), K(hold), K(hold) with lightning durga on hands and kilgore on feet and that worked perfectly.

I've just recently completed them all and unlocked

Lost Chapter - Angel Slayer. Basically this game's version of Bloody Palace, a non-stop endurance fest with one health bar

                  . Awesome!

I am struggling to do the one where you have to stay in the air for 20 seconds. I can see that I need to just bounce around on the floaty heads (i think?), but I can't for the life of me get my positioning right.

Any tips for that one please?

Do you have Kulshedra or whatever the whip's called?

If not, get the rest of the LP parts for that first (There's a guide around somewhere to missing LP parts )

The P(hold) attack on that weapon pulls an enemy right next to you, so all you need to do is P(hold), Jump, P(hold), Jump, repeat ad infinitum.

You get an achievement for doing that too.

Spot on , I'm loving this game , but how anyway can give it more than a 8 out of 10 I'll never know , I don't think its anywhere near as good as Ninja Gaiden II either

Much appreciated, and I probably will

I'm loving the game so far. Love the style, the speed of the action, but I am no where near up to par with it. Still, so long as I am enjoying it, I don't mind having my ass handed to me by a game now and then

My first playthrough completely handed me my arse too, it was ridiculous.

Pretty much stone statues at the end of every level due to absolutely tons of deaths all over the shop. Infact the levels I performed the best on and DIDN'T get stone statues on were the levels just with bosses in them.

In a way I do seriously think the Gaze of Despair accessory helps you improve a lot due to the way enemies attack you much, much more. I know it sounds silly but when you've got it on, you get used to waiting for them to make the first move, dodging, then when witch time hits, unloading the most powerful moves you've got before repeating.

As I mentioned in a previous post, even on Hard mode i'm currently playing through it with the Gaze equipped (some bosses excluded!), and it's just so much fun.

It's also worth noting that (I think) taunted / gazed enemies fill your combo gauge a LOT higher than normal.

and on Lost Chapter, torture attacking the angels with the long sticks and using them to spin around on is pretty much key to getting 80,000+ halo count verses repeatedly. It's ridiculous.
