I know you can skip the cutscenes its just feels so dis-jointed.
I agree on the cut-scenes being a load of extremely overlong tosh, and I don't like that it takes bloody ages before you really have any idea what's going on, but I do love it when you actually get to play it. Some of the characters really don't know when to shut up and let you play.

someone please explain me how do i enable autosave in this game? i had to start from the beginning of a chapter multiple times already - that's really annoying. thanks in advance.

The game dosent have mid level saves, you need to finish a level then save at the menu.

        Unless I missed somthing...

It saves whenever you enter Gates Of Hell doesn't it? Aaaaaaalmost sure it restarts you there...but I could be wrong.

There are save points along the way in each level I thought... I have quit middle chapter and restarted at the last checkpoint passed...

Perhapse you have to go to continue in the menu instead of load game to load the last checkpoint?

I dont know, I never used it for some reason.

The mid level save points never worked for me either. Even when I choose Continue it starts me from the beginning of the chapter. I dunno, I'm probably doing something wrong. Dunno what though.

if i have to do each level from scratch anyway and use manual save after each finished chapter to make some progress then please what is the whole point of the in-between autosaves?

did a google search; seems we are not the only ones trying to understand Bayonetta's save system...

For Bayonetta on the Xbox 360, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "I can't stand/understand the save system".

It could be like Devil May Cry's save system? That would save all the orbs and power ups you gained, but you would still have to start the level over from the beginning.

All the auto system saves is your stats such as money, items and things like that. NOT your game progress. To save that you need to use the save option between levels. It had me puzzled at first but I soon worked it out. It's actually a neet little feature. I've played games that start you off after dieing with half of your items missing because you used them just before you died. In bayonetta you always have what you had before you start the round thanks to the auto save system.

Really? I'm sure that I quit part way through a level (it said "saving..." in the bottom right) and then started up again later that day from the same point...

If you choose 'no' at the continue screen you will begin the level from scratch next time you play.

If you quit mid game, choosing 'return to title screen' in the pause menu, you'll start from that point next time you play.

                            Yes, that's correct.

you are a funny man yakumo. it never came to my mind that losing all the progress i made in a level could be called "a nice little feature"
actually i prefer a save function which saves both item status and level progress, especially since some chapters can easily take up to 1 hour of playtime - depending on your playstyle of course. these old-school save systems are the main reason for me to not play any JRPGs anymore. would love to but i hate to waste my precious time.

update: i'm playing on normal difficulty and find it pretty difficult at times. i keep dying countless times which takes away from the playability and enjoyment, so i think about switching to easy automatic mode. am i getting punished for switching to easy automatic and can i switch back to normal at anytime? how does it play on easy automatic anyway? is it still a challenge and, most of all, is it more fun?

update 2: i switched to easy automatic and the game got so much better now. easy combos, less dying, less pain for my fingers, better scores and in the end a much better game
the only downside is there's is not much challenge left.

Uli: Just learn to dodge and the game gets a whole lot easier. It also activates devil trigger, I mean er - witch time, and you can slash a whole lot more than you can normally.
