Have to pick mine up from the post office today (hardened edition). I paid $30 less than retail so figured it was worth a day longer to wait. Itching to grab it now though.

Just watched IGNs HD video review and noted they mentioned Spec Ops DLC was officially announced. So this isnt just getting more multiplayer maps but co-op maps as well. Good stuff. Also mentioned a patch would be coming for online leaderboards for Spec Ops.

If this is old news then apologies but this is new to me... I forsee me playing multi / spec ops more than the campaign anyway.

I take my comments back about how I felt it wasn't a patch on the previous game, from half way onwards it is just outstanding. I just keep wanting to get to the next checkpoint and can't put my controller down. Not dwelled in MP yet, but based on the opinions here it is well worth the wait.

I've just done act 1 and the first mission of act 2...did I miss something? I seem to have jumped to an unexpected location that is being attacked all of a sudden.

After the airport level I was expecting something along these lines, but it just seems to...happen, and very little is made of it!

I think I must have missed something, I'm finding the radio chatter difficult to follow in this. Doesn't help that my surround sound system stopped working yesterday so am using crappy TV speakers!

The story does seem a bit all over the place. Go here, then here, shoot some stuff there with very little exposition. Does it pull together later on?

That just sounds like you havent played it really. Its hardly rubbish, its polished and plays wonderfuly. The gameplays not really derrative actualy either becuase none of the setpeices feel like youve played them before.

Its certainly the most acomplished FPS ive played since the first MW game.

Finished the single player tonight and enjoyed every second of it. Exactly what I expected from a COD experience except just ramped up a bit more. Nice to see Infinity Ward try to outdo themselves with each new game.

I just loved the whole (game story spoilers of course!)

invasion of american storyline. Sure it's ******** but it made for some fantastic firefights. Of course it was great to see Captain Price back and was kickass fighting alongside him again. I do feel sorry for Craig Fairbrass though, he plays 2 different characters in 2 COD games and he gets bumped off in both!

As for the airport level, can't say it really bothered me in the slightest, I can see what they were trying to do but I just wanted to get back into the action. Didn't offend me or horrify me in the slightest really. The multiplayer version of the map is fantastic though.

Enjoyable stuff and shall make a start on Special Ops tomorrow. Multiplayer is as great as always though I am getting my ass handed to me on a platter, not very good after so long away from it though I am slowly starting to hold my own. Doubt I'll be getting many airdrops though.

Fair enough not liking it but if you liked the first one (which i assume you did) then i can't see why you'd come in and say that without any actual evidence or reasoning behind this comment.

None of the levels in the game are just a shoot out relaly, they all have their own special somthing about them.

Youre a fan of Killzone 2 and all the levels in that game are "just shootouts" and have much less variety than the levels in this game so I'm not sure what youre complaining about.

Look, I really am sorry to not enjoy the game as much as the rest of you. I cycled several miles out of my way to buy this game and I loved cod4. Maybe my expectations are too high but it feels like a pale imitation of cod4 to me and I won't be playing it again.

bit in a "This is ridiculous but fun, wtf I'll go along with it" kinda way. Now it's just a noise. No coherence to the story, it's like IW felt the need to top MW (which I enjoyed, though I didn't think it was as good as CoD2) and had a group of idiots sit down and write a "story" without understanding how you actually tell the story.

I avoided "that level" on principle, but had seen it on YouTube before hand.

IW are looking to raise the stakes in the game, but through very poor story telling techniques. Once again, it seems a dev makes a decent game, then gets wrapped up in their own hype and make a mess of the narrative. See Halo 2 and 3. Gears 2. Etc. As it happens, I'm coming to this immediately after the superb narrative of Unchartered 2.

I can see why a lot of people will like it, but right now, it's not for me. Loud and brash. It's as generic as it comes. I've just been stupidly running back and forth between buildings in the

doing the same little objectives from previous titles, and I don't know why I'm doing them. Hopefully it'll get better and maybe even compelling.

It may be very well polished and look pretty good, but I'm just not feeling it at all.

Spent a good 6 hours (!!) on multiplayer earlier, and enjoyed that far more. Great fun, except those games where a team dominates due to all the air strike / helos / etc nonsense. Turn them off, I think they'd have a nice little shooter in there

Personally, I found the single player mode okay. Multiplayer is good. Maps are okay and the new perk system, kill streak rewards is ace. The best thing about the game for me, is Spec Ops. Playing that with a friend is ace.

If I was to score the game, I'd give thee a 7. It's very decent with others, but a bit boring to me on my own. Spec Ops is the shining star of the package and I hope they release more missions for DLC.

Wow, some of you guys are very harsh critics. The single player is a 8 or 9 and multiplayer is a 10 for sure.

If you enjoyed KZ2 then I cannot see why you wouldn't enjoy this. I understand some people genuinely might not like it but I still think some are hating it just to be "different".

Did anyone else notice the totally "reality-breaking" clipping through some trees and not others in that section? I thought it was really fun, but that really put me off it after clipping through two trees then dying from hitting a third!
