This is the exact point as to why the multiplayer has been annoying me recently. Say for example the other team have a Pave Low/ Harrier and numerous Predator missiles happening at the same time?!

    g.t.f.

    This isn't Super Smash Bros.
It was bearable in Call of Duty 4, but that the fact that it's been amped up this much really does take the preverbial.
Until you attain lvl. 25 and get the 'Cold Blooded' perk to deal with it, you're pretty much fubar'd

That sounds like "better" to me, and also an accurate description of the game's multiplayer element. It's a souped-up version of COD4's, so yeah, nice way to describe it.
Surely a large part of the debate is people not thinking it's better than Cod4?

All those adjectives above equal one thing: MORE. More does not mean better. The lack of a cohesive, well told story and characters you care are putting me, and others by the looks of it, off.

You can take the best looking woman in the world and pump her tits up to double G's. Souped Up! Surely better? Well, that's a matter of opinion isn't it?

People get SOOOO precious about games don't they. Did you write it yourself No? Well, it's not your baby then, so criticising it shouldn't be so taboo.

      Anyway....

Tried single player again last night. Done another 3 levels I think. Not to drone on and on, but I'm finding the missions very "bitty". You're in one area, then jump to another character elsewhere. The missions themselves seem very short, they're over before you've had a chance to get into them. Probably doesn't help I've come to this after UC2, where you play continuous, streaming levels where is all flows naturally. Still, I can't remember finding mission length and flow an issue with Cod4. If I still had it, I'd go back and replay it, to make sure I'm not just too nostalgiac.

Yep. I actually prefer joining random TDM matches where there are no clans, otherwise it can be very frustrating.

I find rewarding the best players with over powered auto-killing machines bizzare.

@teddy. Dunno mate but yes, the PS3 online is faultless now. I experienced no lag, no host advantage etc. All working sweet. Tonight might be a different story of course.

Having completed the single player on hardcore and played a good bit of multiplayer i can give a objective view of this now.

Single player (hardcore). Hmm, well cant say i was impressed by this at all really. The computer can snipe you through smoke from quite a distance a way, with absolute pin point accuracy. Ive seen them teleport behind me when im pushing on and kill me too, they are infinite re spawn still as well, poor show.
The story had absolutely zero cohesion as well, i mean wtf am i doing? and why should i give a dam, all rather slap dash, and not really fun at all.

Multiplayer online. again hmmm. Well its all very, errm "Americanised" isnt it? by that i mean instead i making it more tactical, taking some of the more pointless weapons out, less pointless perks and forcing players to think on their feet instead of there equipment. Thieve added even more pointless weapons, more air strikes and kill streaks (ac gunship is a little it over kill for a few ground troops dont you think, as for the nuke, utterly pointless) and even more perks.
Basically, its too fast, has too much going on, and has far to many messages and things bombarding you at every opportunity after every match, i do like the awards on the after match screen though for best hunter etc like perfect dark had.

I had the situation last night where i got stuck on a team of utter numpties, and before i could blink the opposing team had racked up enough kills for a predator, attack helicopter and a harrier. They then unleashed them all at once it seemed and basically massacred my team. Now despite clawing my way back to 2nd best player of the match with only 3 kills behind the leader, it still wasn't fun at all being rained on for so much of the match. Dont get me wrong though me had some good matches online too so its not all bad.

In short, apart from the spec opps, 4 is still a superior game in singleplayer and multi.

Can I ask if you have been playing this since before Tuesday or have you done all this since release?

Okay, here goes. In no way am I in the "I love this and you're wrong if you don't love it too" crowd by the way but I EFFING LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!

Played single player for about an hour until my mates came online, then went onto multi. Racked up 12 hours on that now alone and think it's just like COD4 but better in EVERY way.

The variety of guns, attachments, perks, killstreaks, maps just make it stunning. So many challenges for each weapon alone now, keeps you more than occupied. Always something to aim for to upgrade or earn.

Currently using the FAMAS with Red Tiger camo, Holographic sight and FMJ attachment which adds more power. Obviously using the Bling perk which allows two attachments, but now have Bling pro which allows attachments for your secondry weapon too.

Then I have Stopping Power Pro perk for extra power and Commando Pro for long distance knife kills and no fall damage. Seems like the perfect setup so far. Then add to that, Predator Missiles, Harrier Jet and Pave Low killstreaks at 5, 7 & 9 respectively. Just awesome. Having so much fun with this.

Only game I've bought since CoD: WaW and I'm glad I waited. Don't have alot of time for games these days but this will certainly force me to squeeze in some playtime as often as possible!

Probably sound like an over the top fanboy but I just find it so enjoyable to play this online. In all honesty as well, I don't have any issues with this game whatsoever yet, I have found it perfect! Pity not everyone likes it the same.

I started properly Tuesday night and finished it yesterday evening. Excluding the continual deaths at the hands of the AI I'd say 5 - 6 hours.

I've decided to go back to using cable for my Xbox as the wireless seems to be absolute crap. I've spent the morning checking my settings etc and it's all okay. I've also downloaded some files over wifi and they were lickety-quick so it must be Xbox Live related.

I agree with the over reliance on aerial attacks in the multiplayer. The ability to stack these over each other can ruin games by overwhelming the opposing team but it's still preferable to the dogs in COD5. I'm increasingly finding it easier to avoid though as, like when people disliked the tanks in 5, there's always tactics around it.

Started it tuesday night and finished the single last night, played the multi online for about 4 hours now too.

This is my first COD. I gave in to media and peer pressure. ?26 from Sainsburys ain't a bad price though. And then ?31.99 to get XBox Gold (yes it's taken this long).

I thought it would be a bit childish but to be honest I played it for five hours yesterday. Doesn't mean it's not childish though. I can imagine teenage Americans being a pain in the arse as they were when I last played on line during the old XBox years.

What can I say about the game? Well on standard def tv it looks pretty amazing compared to the other handful of games I've got. Music is a pain but the score is good, if a little uninspired. Why can't I turn it off?

The movement is how I'd expect any FPS to work. Guns? Not exactly celebrated like in Black are they. That had meaty guns. I'm also confused as to what to pick up. So far, on Normal, I haven't really seen any benefit in changing from the default ones. They all shoot the bad guys with the same amount of power. Grenades aren't useful like in Halo. I lob 'em and nothing much really seems to happen.

And as for the story? What story? Is there one happening? After several levels I cottoned on that it's WW3 between two superpowers with Britain thrown in like we always are. And as for that 'controversial' level!? Hmm, do teenage kids really need to be seeing that, let alone playing that? To think someone actually passed that off. What a charming world we live in. Where next I wonder, children and pregnant women? Hostel, the video game for all the sick ****s in the world?

Overall though, quite fun. And I'm dying a lot. An awful lot.

If you check the box theres a little "18" symbol on it, which Ive been told means its not for under 18's ...

If youre dying alot its probabaly becuase you arent using cover sufficiently, regular difficulty isnt that hard when you know how to play thye game.

There's a a distinct bit of `lag` (if that's the right word) whenever I use the 360 wireless adapter.

You can see it in the time it takes to load blocks on thr dash, populate the friends channel etc.

For me cabled is always better and eliminates the problem (notwithstanding the sluggishness of the dash to start with).

Whats more is it takes about 7 clicks to invite someone going through all the menus, what was wrong with the old system of literally 2 clicks to invite
