I'm currently doing a run through without getting the super guide to pop up.

All star coins in worlds 1 and 2 done. No problem.

On world 3 with that damn penguin suit, I've cleared all the levels - so, my question is, does the superguide only come up if you HAVEN'T cleared a level or does it come up if you die 8 times even if you have cleared it?

It does include the update and wants you to install it... but it plays perfect through Gecko.

Sorry to double post - does anyone know the answer to this please?

Had to post to share my love for this game. My wife and I played this start to finish and got all the star coins. Fabulous game and the pinnacle of co-op platform gaming! (ok I haven't played LBP so can't say that for sure)
It just tied together so much of the past mario games and because of that we just knew how to play it.
And for anyone that's found it too easy. Wait till you get to
          ...

Started this on Christmas day and managed to playthrough stages 1 and some of 2. Magnificent. Even at this early stage.

            For me
Was as good as any Mario stage I have ever played (2d Mario)

I think I'm in for a real treat with this.

                That's a spoiler?

The final world is awesome, provided the difficulty we'd been craving all game. I'm so glad that they provided such a good unlockable for getting all the star coins, particularly in view of how many developers just substitute achievement points for worthwhile unlockables now.

Half way through...what a stunning game..the level design is really imaginative this time around, the colours the music, its sublime!

This surely rates up with World and 3.

Having a quick scan of the thread, am I the only one who's been repeatedly f***ed by the game freezing whenever someone takes a hit/dies/collects an item?

It happens all the time in three/four player sessions and, in a game where precision jumping is key, seems to be a bonkers inclusion in the game.

If it freezes when you're about to hit the jump button the jump simply fails to register. If it happens when you're in mid-air, then the jump will fall short because you timed the button hold for an uninterrupted jump.

Was the freeze necessary in multiplayer? Was it? WAS IT? Ant and Dec promised me love and laughter and cheeky Geordie competitiveness this festive season, but instead this game was making me intensely hate family members over Christmas.

I personally found it to be a constantly souring occurrence throughout. Although I'm still going back to polish off any missed coins because I'm clearly some kind of gaming self-harmer.

Only play single player myself, but I saw what you're on about in the many review vids on thy net. Does look a bit owl arse.

                            :-D

yeah that ruined it for me too...playing 3 player at my friends over xmas. the pause at first wasnt too bad on the easier levels but when you are jumping from moving cogs etc its beyond annoying. game breaker for me.

especially as when my mate and his mrs ran out of lives I flew thru the levels solo having a great time....when did co-op play start making games 10 times harder??

Got this for Xmas and finished it tonight. I played one to two hours a night, then for the past two days I've been closed to 5 hours each playtime - got all the golden coins.

I thought the Single Player was really good, it could have been done on the DS yes. Some of the levels are just absolute genius and some of the
stages are quite challenging and some of the coin placements are just

I'm chomping at the bit for Galaxy 2 now!

This really is a special Mario outing. Now up to World 7. Majority secrets found and 100% star coins.

I can't help but think that the DS game, which was the template for this game, has marred this experience a bit. The games are worlds apart, but not that many.

The Ds game was great on first play, I completed it again this year (on the girlfriends DS and she had the game) and I thought...nah..its no World or SMB3.

This however is...but..Had we not had the DS game, this would of been totally new and more celebrated..that is what I feel anyway.

The stages are definitely more imaginative for the most part..I think it was said in this thread that this is the love child of 3 and World...that is about right...what more could you want?

The DS game has dampened this excellent game by being the mediocre template.
