I got around that problem of not being able to max out my weapons, but it was pretty monotonous.

I was able to keep the upgrades if I earned them during the challenges themselves, so I just repeated the first one (the only certain victory) over and over, maybe around 30 times! groan

It turned out challenge 4 was the hardest anyway, once past that it wasn't much trouble to clear them all. The last one where you can't take a single hit could have been fun, but thankfully it wasn't as bad as the last challenge in the first game.

With GOW3 being so close I think I will skip Titan mode for now, I don't want to suffer burn out on the series from trying something too frustrating. I'll go back to it when there's another lull in new games.

I didn't do any of the challenges, I've just played through the single player campaign - so falling just short of the red orbs was incredibly frustrating (Got all eyes/feathers on the playthrough as well)!

Started GoW2 last night. Feels really weird jumping straight in and not having all of the moves/powers I had at my disposal at the end of the first game, not to mention the fact that they've shifted the use button from R2 to R1.

It's fantastic though. Playing it straight after one really highlights the improvements made in the game.

finished the first game the other night and am smashing through the second now. I loved the first game (my first time playing it), but I don't think I would rate it as highly as most people did, mainly because the game seemed to really slow down and drag towards the end. The platforming element of the game seemed average to me right from the start, so to make it the focus of a significant portion of the game where the action should really be ramping up didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Anyhow, no such problems with the second so far, and I am loving the scenery. The steeds of time? amazing. I'm disappointed I didn't see this on the ps2 when it came out. If its impressive now, It would have looked fantastic then.

@ yyg Probably at least a third I would think.

Some great sections coming up and the pacing is better than the first so carry on!

FInished 1 last night. I cant remember it even though I know i beat it on PS2 (ta coma brain!) but thought it was great. Few niggly puzzles but very good and stood up well on PS3.

Did the first boss level on 2 tonight and thats incredible for me. Up with Bayonetta for set piece action. Looks like a proper PS3 game as well albeit first gen and not just upscaled like 1.

Seriously wetting my appetite for III and I wasnt fussed about it till this weekend. Weirdly I only started playing them Thurs night when Id ordered the FXIII guide (so benched it as I wanted to get stats right and leveling). Guide never arrived from Game so had to go out and buy it locally Saturday and not got back to it as been too engrossed in this.

I got it for xmas and I played 2hours then stopped gaming for 2months as it just felt flat to me compared to Bayonetta. Since Friday though Ive not played out else and finished 1 in 8hours and after awhile its good maybe not epic as 2 seems as not enough boss sections or epic fighting but a good test for a PS2 game. They definetly have better sub bosses I guess you could call them than Bayonetta though and actual levels wheras Bayonetta has the combos. They are very different beasts though and can live alongside each other now Ive got into them.

Noticed the game has some odd camera bugs. Cant remember if the where their on the original but came across 2 instances now on bosses on both GOW1 and now 2 where it zooms in on Kratos at a side so you cant see whats happening. Once I died it unstickied itself.

Still loving 2 more of the same but its fantastic!

The Ultimate Edition is only out with I think Game group this week and it sold out quickly on preorder. USA got it this week and its been panned as a quite poor made CE whats only worth it for a quick look at the artbook (pointless for 1 & 2 for them as they already got it as standalone).

It does come with 1 & 2 which is the only current way to get it in UK officially. Theirs rumours doing rounds 1&2 is coming out as a standalone in UK around 23rd April but nothing concrete yet.

Its going for mental prices on Ebay for the Ultimate but best way is if you want 1&2 for PS3 is to import it. You can get em from VG+ for ?30 or ebay and III for ?35 so thats less than ?65 for all 3 games not ?100+! .

1 & 2 is definetly worth buying though m8 and getting stuck into before III they done a cracking job on it for PS3 doesnt feel like a upscaled cash in

If I remember correctly it's a prequel to 1 but not by much. It doesn't spoil anything mainly pads Kratos's story out. Practically as good as GOW1

A few places actually have the collection up on their website at the moment (Play have it for £17.99 I think), so I'm guessing it is going to get a release over here. Why it wasn't released in the run up to the release of III is completely beyond my comprehension.

Finished two again last night in preparation, which is fantastic. I still stick by my preference for the first game largely due to the more personal nature of the storyline, but acknowledge that there are a fair few improvements to the gameplay mechanics in the second.

As for the PSP game, it's worth playing if only so that you can marvel at what in incredible job Ready At Dawn did on getting a full (If a little short) God of War game onto that platform. It also sits nicely alongside the first game in terms of some of the story elements, which is another plus from me. They should have ported that as a part of the collection, the buffoons!

I finished GOW2 last night all ready for 3 and then see I'm sooo close to a Platinum... damn my whorishness!!!

I wasn't close enough in either game (77% on 1, 58% on 2) to really give me the impetus to push for the Platinum. Besides which, I'm not sure forcing myself through some of the harder sections of the game on higher difficulties will do anything other than sour my thoughts on it - I've made that mistake in the past with CoD games and I try to avoid it where possible now.

Im enjoying 2 alot more than 1. Dunno why. 1 was great but 2.....I guess for me it seems more Epic in the levels and boss structures so far. Both great games but after reading some posts in past on 2 I was expecting a less involved Kratos but Ive got into the game more.

Must get it finished so can start on III
