gunship showed up at all after I stabbed the guy.

Although messing with the

mech and having it slaughter the mercs was a handy turn of events.

If you take out the mechanic, Shepard says something like "at least the ship isn't fully operational." or something before the attack so I suspect the fight against the gunship is easier if you take the mechanic out in the cut-scene.

You don't have to be mean per se, just a bit more "balanced".

One thing I'm finding odd though is the lack of side missions I've come across. The first game threw them at you and at a similar playtime in the first (7 odd hours) I had barely touched the main storyline. Here there seems little to do but the main storyline.

Does anyone know if this changes or am I just missing something? I'm up to the point where I've just recruited the first batch of squad mates and been given the second list.

I believe you have to find them by scanning the uncharted planets mate.

I've had a few "i want this item" type quests from people on the ship.

I think i've worked whats bothering me in this game. Its the same thing with KOTOR 2. It doesn't quite seem to be the same universe as we left - I don't like the way the story has gone so far. I still like playing it, it just hasn't grabbed me as much as the first one did. Although give it a week im sure that will have changed.

I think this is what's thrown me a little bit - I guess my brain is still too engaged in the way the first one worked. However I keep forgetting that I'm not part of the Alliance any more so won't be bombarded with Admiral Hackett telling me to "go there and do this".

Not that I mind the new way of doing things - I wisely invested in the upgrade to the ships scanners so it makes mining and exploring a damn sight easier.

I was solely dissapointed when I found out the Vanguard class no longer had Barrier (absolute lifesaver on Insanity). However, thanks to the extra skill perk, I now have it back. Now I can spam Charge more often.

where do you get the extra skill perk? can it be used to add assault rifles for a vangaurd?

Jamie, I'm the opposite to you...at the moment I'm absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of "additional" quests I have on the go. I've devised a system whereby I'm doing them in order of who is the more "bonable"...it's the only fair way.

I have to say, they've literally improved EVERY aspect of the game from the first one.

I just want to be playing it all the time. Right now, I want to be playing it.

I've done a few great side quests, the dlc mission was better than any side quest (and many main quests) than anything in the original. They seem to be harder to come across but are more rewarding.

started playing at 7pm last night before i knew it it was 1 am, its that kind of game and i would have been happy to carry on, only thing im not happy with is that fact i have collectors edition rifle and armour and my vangaurd class cant use the gun :P ever or atm?
