Well I only ever played the demo of the first game, I'm just going on the general opinions of what I have read about it.

Anyway i'm loving this, the single player plays really well, the guns feel so great to use, possibley they best in any FPS I have ever played, which is a bold statement but they do feel that good. The eviromental destruction thing is used well too, running throgh a building while its being blown to bits is exciting.

I'm playing it on hard and its relativley challenging and a heck of alot of fun.

As for the multiplayer, it is just what youd expect really, its a Battlefield game.

Ive noticed a few bugs (Ive already been stuck on scenery twice and the friendly AI is somtimes all over the place), but its still the single player that has still really impressed me so far. Its a great game.

The thing I hated about the demo from the first was that it was too obviously a reskin of a multiplayer game - spawning back in instead of reloading just completely broke any sense of immersion for me. I didn't think the characters and plot were anything amazing, but I didn't have any real problem with them. If someone could actually have done a good take on Three Kings the videogame, I'd have been there on release day. Sadly no war game I can think of has managed to land a decent story yet.

I'm really hesistant about this, speaking to Jim(tendo) he's convinced me that the single player is okay but multiplayer is where it's at...and...well, I just don't play much online nowadays as I don't have a select few that I play with regularly anymore.

Hold firm you swine! I'm still feeling really pressured into buying this and if those who said they weren't going to start folding, I'm probably not going to be far behind.

          Gotta love having no willpower...

It didn't help when a mate sent me a text (the same mate who I'd previously asked if he was getting it and he replied "no") asking "Are you getting Bad company 2 then?".

He's been looking at it, the maps etc appealled to him and he's tempted.

Jaimie, you and me bro, we won't fold!

I'm most of the way through the single player and while it's good I would say it's not exactly essential. The environmental destruction, the scale, and the sound design are tops; the crappy AI and the godawful story, not so much. And while it's certainly a hell of a lot of fun blowing craters through the landscape, it is occasionally a little too noticeable the amount of detail they seem to have had to cut out to facilitate that. Not polygon count or texture detail, just an awful lot of rooms that don't seem to have very much in them. Crysis this ain't.

Perhpase the only reason i'm loving it is becuase I love FPS so much in general, but I certainly think the single player is a very good experience overall. Its great where it counts, which is the core action, the set peices, the way it plays.

I agree on the empty rooms thing but as a game I prefer it to crysis to be honest, I always found that overrated (though Warhead was alot of fun).

I'm enjoying the single player alot - and I'm generally quite fussy when it comes to single player FPS's. It probably helps that I was expecting some tacked-on 'offline mulitplayer' experience like in previous BF games but they've actually done a decent job. It does feel alot like Call of Duty, but the size of a environments and the whole destructive buildings element give it its own feel.

I can't say I would reccomend spending £40 on this if you don't intend playing multiplayer but there are worse single player games out there

completely agree, the various humorous lines of your squad mates were mostly very funny and also kind of a trademark for the single player game. it would be a shame if Dice chose to give the story a more serious tone.

Is anybody else unable to find any multiplayer games?

I don't think Crysis is over-rated exactly but in many ways I'd also rather have this. I still wouldn't really go through it that many times, and in terms of pure gameplay I don't think it comes close to Killzone 2 or Halo (insert your preferred number here ). But it is fun, where Crysis was frequently just a bit too... clinical for me to really, really enjoy working through it. BC2 is solid, it's got a real sense of place, levels are frequently huge, stuff blows up reeeal good, the guns sound excellent and handle beautifully. There are indeed far, far worse shooters to shell out for; just if you're on the fence I'm not sure I'd call it a must buy.

It's a big improvement over the first one, and I enjoyed that. The visuals and sound are superb. I'm playing through the campaign and can't wait to get online. Hopefully it will hold my attention like the first one did.

Not played much yet but i've got to comment on the sounds of the guns, they sound fantastic compared to the toy guns from CoD. When you fire them on BF2 they actually feel like powerful and deadly weapons.

I've just been playing this online and it's so much smoother and better than the demo.

I like how you have an overall progression score that all classes contribute to and then one for each individual class for unlocks. I'm just trying different things at the moment, being as it's a deeper experience than Bad Company.

Been on the multiplayer all the night, I actually think the squad deathmatch is pretty good although obviously its a small kill arena rather than a huge open map. That said the larger maps are still great especially when your in tanks plowing up the road or circling in the choppers.
