Yeah, there is a way to spot mines. I've been alerted to the presence of mines many times while driving tanks but I'm not sure which class or gadget or perk picks them up. Could well be the recon proximity mine as Golgo says but I'm not certain.

while remaining mostly enjoyable i think overall the MP is a decline, and this for a number of reasons. for beginners it takes far too long to level up and gain some satisfaction from it. i must have played around 20 games now and still haven't even reached the Private 1 rank!? also, i am not sure if the health system suits the chaotic gameplay, too often it's just spawn & die in succession for me. most of all the net code seems far worse, 1 out of 3 matches i experience lag or complete break downs, losing all my points. quite a number of gamers must be agreeing as predecessor's MP community is still pretty much alive.Last edited by Uli; 17-04-2010, 14:26.

Uli, I see your in Germany. Maybe its German games that have bad lag. I know some Aussies also have the same kind of trouble too.
For the UK games, I have no problems whatsoever with games ending or lag, forgetting its first week of release, its been rock solid for me.
I agree about the ever-so slight decline though. Its getting very very skilled and scary players now, it can be a bit too hardcore at times. I have now learnt generally that when in a squad, its not always best to spawn again with one of them. Doing so generally means you re-spawn right into someones sights, and get killed instantly.

I have played it approx 70 games on the PC version and I have reached rank 7 already. I am mainly on the xbox 360 version and got the PC version to play with friends. I don't do great with KD on the PC either I find it a harder game than on the console TBH.
I am not really sure how you have managed to play so many games and not reach your first rank you can get to rank 2 in about 4 games.

In regards to the lag, I've played close to 300 matches from the UK and, of those, have experienced lag in perhaps half a dozen games.
Completely agree on the ranking system and associated unlocks though. It was a stupid idea in CoD4 and remains a stupid idea today. Developers should return to creating first person shooters that don't handicap newcomers.
I think my biggest criticism of the multiplayer is the lobby system, or lack of. They can keep the quickmatch system as it is now for quick and easy matches, but I'd like to see the addition of a Halo 3-esque lobby system which auto-balances teams for those of us who are disillusioned with being put in teams full of rank five, six, sevens and pitted against a team of rank thirties.

The thing it should do better is, place the players according to their rank to more closely matched opponents better.

Thanks for the game last night, really enjoyed it (after we left the first server, bugger me they were good).
I'll be on at some point today/tonight so feel free to invite me to a game.

Why do you feel awkward? We're all in the same boat and many of us have been playing on Live for years together.I haven't played on Live with my actual friends for weeks and weeks now as they are rarely on. I'll add some more of you to my list next time I'm on as sometimes there are only a few people on to play with and it's much better when we get a big party with at least 8 people in a team.

also, do consider that i am not very good at this kind of games. i prefer the slightly more tactical approaches like Ghost Recon, Rainbox Six or Modern Warfare's Hardcore Search and Destroy.

Originally posted by Uli View Postwell, just do some maths: you need 6500 XP to reach Private 1 rank... 6500/20 = 325 points and that's not too bad if you are a beginner handicapped by lag.
Best game I've played, 3 nights in (about 5 or 6 hours total now I'd guess), was my last one last night when I got something like 2500 points, my highest total by far. And I was maybe 500, 600 points above the second best player.
So 1625xp per game would be pretty good for a semi-experienced player, bordering on amazing for a newbie! I can have a bad run and get 500 points total playing Rush. I'm guessing I average 800 points a game, but haven't worked it out. May well be less
Ranking is too slow, imo. I remember commenting last night that as Assault I have 1428 apparently, and my next unlock, the Red Dot Sight, is at 3000! Yikes.
I'm still unsure of these games that award those who spend obscene amounts of time on them with the best weapons / perks / whatever. Those players should be the best through experience anyway, giving them more advantages over those of us with a life away from gaming (ie can't play 8, 10 hours a day). Whereas rewards and unlocks are an incentive to play, I don't think it should be at the expense of alienating other players. Give them new skins or cosmetic bonuses instead.
