A typical session in this for me seems to be playing it for two hours then realising that I've only actually had one race because of all the messing around I've done.
I initially had concerns that the tracks would be really repetitive due to there only being four "themes" and the developers having a limited tool set as it's the same one we get but the track just get better and better as you go along and they certainly don't look or feel like any less individual that tracks in more conventional racers.
I had a really good laugh last night, spent most of it in the ModSpot and because it's launch day there was about 30 people messing around in there. A lot of people had mics and you can hear everybody in the ModSpot chatting to each other, it sounded like there was some really young kids playing as well as older people.
Everybody was just driving around and jumping over stuff. Trust me, when you get 30 people who don't know each other all trying to land on the tiny centre section at the same time it's bloody hilarious!
A couple of people later on got a bit sweary which seemed pointless as it was quite clear there was young kids in there. Hopefully there's some way that parents can set up some sort of private area like this.
The only complaint that I really have about the ModSpot is that I think it could really benefit from a larger area, I was thinking something like the hub from Diddy Kong Racing which would give a bit more scope to play around in.
Some of the stuff that's been created on there is far better than I was expecting. You've got the fairly predictable Mario Kart cast and locations and things like F1 teams but there's things being created which look more like premium downloads.
This is me at the moment!

I don't think there's anyway to screen shots outside of a racing circuit which is a bit of a shame. Anybody else got pictures of what they're using at the moment. I've got a fantastic B.A. Baracus too, not sure if people can access it via my profile but have a search in the Share section if you can't as you really NEED this.
With creations that you publish you can chose to lock them or let people remix them. If people download one and remix it the game will still list it as created by the original person but also list the details of who has remixed it. You can leave comments on creations as well as rating them up to five stars which can help when searching for good stuff.
I've only really had a brief play with the character creation and in this you add primitives to the characters so you can essentially model them into different shapes which gives you a hell of a lot to play with.
I'll be returning through all the races again to find the hidden tokens (see the item in the centre of the burning loop in the second picture above) and beet the challenges which will unlock items in the creation section.
I've chucked a couple of tracks together which took a few minutes which was simple enough for kids to use, as expected it will take time if you want to produce a good track. I've not looked at the detailed track creation options though, I essential drew a squiggly line, pressed the complete track button and then the auto populate button and it was there in a matter of minutes.
I've only just realised that you have a couple of sliders on the kart which have four variations between Speed<-->Acceleration and four between Drift<-->Handling which is all you need. The parts that you use to build the kart don't affect anything apart from how it looks and you can adjust the handling anytime while in the ModSpot.
I've only just realised too that if you pause during a race it brings up loads of options for people who are fussy. You can pretty much adjust everything the audio and it's got a really nice option to also customise the camera which I've found useful.
I've not been able to find any way to customise the controls, anybody know if you can? It doesn't really matter but I think it's always a nice option to have.
EDIT:
I have no idea why I've got this but check your emails people as I've just received one with a code to download this feller and his car!!

I think it was a pre-order bonus in the US but they may just be sending codes out to everybody over here or maybe people who have LBP.
