My placement matches were truly awful. 4 losses 1 win.

I got placed into Bronze but then learned Protoss and the game promoted me to Silver.

Just did the "lava" planet mission. Brilliant. A game like this, for someone like me...it could get boring, but the way they mix it all up, keep you busy so to speak, is superb.

Once you get past the first 4 or so missions they really start to pick up Enjoying the game much more now.

Done two of my placement matches, won one (air rush > ground rush), lost one (pestered me with ghosts and cloaked fighters until I ran out of minerals)

Been doing a few friendly matches and once you get into the mindset that you're not preparing for a 2 hour long game, it's loads of fun.

Watching me earlier replays I was too focussed on getting everything on tech 1 -> then everything on tech 2. It's much more about getting together quickly and second guessing the opposition.

Man that last mission is a right pain in the arse

I get the artifact up to 90% ready but just get totally overrun

Still a great game i am really looking forward to getting online with this

You can always tell the difference between an average to good game, and an amazing one like this, as instead of going to sleep last night all i could think of was turret placements, build orders and manoeuvring tactics to beat this mission .
Loved every second of this game so far, and i may even dabble in a spot of online play once its done too, its that dam good

I've barely even scraped the offline mode. I've just been playing this purely online.

I lost my even win/loss streak though. I've had a couple of really nasty streak where i've lost about 5 to 10 games in a row, that's put me down to around 62 wins and 65 losses.

I've now switched from playing Protoss, as everybody seems to be playing Protoss and becoming incredibly aware of void ray rushing. I've started re-learning the Terran and playing a marine pressure game. There's almost nothing that a small group of marines can't decimate, so being able to constantly churn them out and play a pressure game is a very valid tactic that i've won a few games in a row with.

                I love learning this.

Yeah, I've tried void ray rushes as protoss. They're far far too effective early game at the moment, easily the most effective rushing tactic I've come across so far.

The big problem is that ~4 void rays will chew through small numbers of pretty much anything. The only way to counter them early on is insane levels of AA, big mix of AA ground and air.

I still need to work on my tactics, think I'll continue maining as Protoss, I love the flexibility they have early on and their simple tech tree.

I suck against Terran sap type players. Using ghosts and clocked air to gradually wear down my outposts until I run out of minerals. It's really irritating that Ghosts can attack air (and thus Protoss' defenceless detectors).

I don't even use the keyboard short cuts for building stuff so would get my arse handed to me if i played online.

                      If you let them charge.

A void ray group's worst nightmare is a group of marines, as void rays can't take a lot of damage. I say this from my own personal experience.

If you can take out void rays before their lasers charge up, you're okay. But if you give them 5-10 seconds to focus their fire on a target so much that their lasers reach full power, you're pretty much completely screwed as any anti-air you bring into the fight at that moment will get decimated in less than a second.

Yeah Marines are the only effective counter I can think of. But then, Terrans pretty much have pretty much the best AA options of any race (as a whole they have some of the best turtling options).

I've heard queens are an effective counter for Zerg.

Playing it on my 20inch imac, 2.6 duel core, 4gig ram, 256mb graphics card, 500gig hard drive.

The game manages to cripple it on anything above medium setting. Which brings me to my only moan about the game, its obviously not optimised for mac in any way as my imac is hardly a slouch, snow leopard takes up virtually no system resources and i dont run any other programs while playing it, so i would say it runs pretty dam poorly to be honest.

I've got the game up and running on my 2010 i5 MacBook Pro. However it's under Windows XP with bootcamp. This way it works with most settings on high and most of the game will run at mid 40s FPS. In OSX the performance was dire, the graphics drivers under 10.6.4 are clearly not optimised. We'll have to wait for an update with decent drivers for native mac play. I definitely recommend using bootcamp for gaming on a mac.
