Plasma Pistol and DMR. Use them in conjuction with each other and enemies (even more so, Elites) are easy.

I'm nearing the end of Act 6, and that room where you have to

kill FIVE elites and a bunch of Engineer Grunts without any backup was by far the most anger-enducing experiance I've had in years. It doesn't help that I also ended up in a death cycle... although that went back to normal after I died 20 times or so every three seconds.

When this is over... oh god, let it end.

I've had a few games this evening where it's been tough telling the difference between team-mates and enemies as they've both been killing me. Mistakes happen but it does get annoying when it's happening several times however if you boot the person that means you weaken your team. If you get idiots deliberately killing you though then it's time to boot them.

During firefight I had a guy shooting me enough to knock out my shields but no further which I assume was to get me to shoot back and kill him so he could boot me as I seem to recall in Halo 2 but I wasn't taking him on. I'm hoping more people won't be taking this back up.

I'm impressed with how much better this version of Firefight is offline particularly the customisation which means you can get it pretty much any way you want it. Online it's not so great though, it seems a race to get to the heavy weapons which they then fire on the first wave of grunts which is a total waste. It's problematic when the wraiths and hunters are dropped with little in the way to blow them away with. It's also a bit annoying that it's a race to get the score up rather than proper co-op, with the lives being unlimited there's no reason not to. I prefer having the limited lives and having to be very careful rather than rushing in.

I thought a 5 and a 4 was stretching it. Haha. I gave it a 10 myself, it ticks all the right boxes for me and i think its the best one since the original. Sure makes up for ODST, never did like that.

Some people just have a chip on their shoulder regarding certain games. I've never liked the MGS games, but I'd never score any of them a 1/10 .

agreed - even if i dont like the game, i think you need to appreciate 'the package', rather than just saying its s*** and giving it a low score

I hated MGS4 but as a score its easily worth a 6 -7 (for me)

TBF I gave it 4 on initial impressions, which in hindsight was a tad impulsive/stupid which I would happily change now, but I don't think you can change it can you?

Don't get me wrong I'm all for subjective reviews, but I'd struggle to give any games 1/10. Aside from a few horrors, I don't think I've played much that would remotely come near that score. Even that terrible free Yaris game is worth a 2/10 at least.

I think some forget that we have a full ten numbers to play with. In some people's mind the scoring goes something like this:

10............................9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 1

No wonder people see 7 as an average.
