I'm sure that isn't right though. Otherwise why would The PoA need a copy Cortana so badly before flying off? Confusing. I always thought that Cortana was around for ages and picked John 117 because he had such great luck.

And how does she go from being in a BIG ASS TUBE to being able to fit in a microchip inside MC's head? Lulwut?

            Fair dos.

Anyway... Finished the campaign on Heroic Solo last night. Was a blast except that I wasn't plugged into XBL for some of the missions so it didn't register me completing them for the Cr's.

            Gutting.

Overall I really enjoyed the experience. The last few levels were extremely intense and I really felt like I was improving at the combat towards the end. The Battle Rifle (single shot thing) is a BEAST in this game and almost necessary for taking down some of the low level fodder and then storming the Elites.

The atmosphere was great, the characters were a bit bland but I don't really care about them. Noble 6 was a great addition I thought though. He is a cross between Master Chief and Gordon Freeman in that he is almost as strong as the Chief but his back story is clouded in mystery still (I'm sure it will be fleshed out with the inevitable novels). But you get to put your own stamp on him more than with the Master Chief.

Gunplay was great, enemies are nice and varied throughout and some of the set pieces are brilliant. The last level before the

            ****ty MAC bit

was SO INTENSE. I never thought I would be

sneaking up on the Super Elites with a SHOTGUN to blast them sneakily in the face

but that is what I had to do. The final blow on the last guy was amazing.

I Got right up into his face so he couldn't fire his plasma cannon, then I chased him around and wore down his shield, boom, nearly there. He whips out a plasma shword and I'm thinking ****, I am going to die, but I jumped at his face and melee'd him just right so he went down.

It was the best Halo moment I have ever had. Pure adrenaline.

I am sure I can think of some bad things to write but for now I am soaking up all the goodness. In particular,

after the first set of credits - Spartans Never Die

            was excellently done.

Noble 6 - you are a cool dude (especially in my custom Red and Blue spider man armour).

            9/10

Obviously they're not scripted to get in at that point but it still jarred a little. So I cheated a bit by driving closer, manning the gun, moving forward, and so on. Nicest thing about Halo was being able to improvise if you ask me.
I think I know where you mean. I've managed to get the warthog to two or three segments where you shouldn't, be it by driving at certain angles towards walls/concrete slabs or using grenades to bounce it over, and the AI never gets in to help. It's a pity as even a moronic gunner is better than no gunner.

I played a bit more of the Co-Op yesterday evening and really enjoyed it so I put an hour or so into Multi-Player last night. It's both sublime, infuriating and filled with adolescent behaviour that appears to be linked to the Halo series.

I had some fantastic matches with normal DMR's, Slayer variants, Sniping and one fantastic match of the long missed SWAT. Out of that selection though, was the snipping match I took part in which somehow had all the worst bits of the Halo online experience rolled into one.

Everyone starts with DMR's and in the Reach version of Blood Gulch. Slowly everyone realises they need Sniper Rifles and both teams start to explore the map for them. However the other team were a bit more on the ball and appeared to mostly be equipped with a Sniper Rifle (Looking back, I wonder if the Rifle was available as one of the load out Guns?) and proceeded to back us into our base. Although it was hectic, I was having a great time, especially as you could once in awhile take one of them unawares with a short range gun. During this, 1 team mate decided to bugger off which left us with 3 including myself.

When those few waves had been dealt with and our lesson learnt, I picked up a Sniper Rifle to keep them at bay. As I picked one up, I got a bullet in my back from my team mate who was now standing next to me. I turned back thinking it a mistake, but he the emptied the clip into me. Much like the Air Drops from dead players in Modern Warfare 2, people think that something is theirs which no one else should take. Except in Reach, they can team kill you for no good reason. Queue me being given the option to kick him and then our team being left with only 2 players in till the end of the match.

Impatient players, childish behaviour, terrifying reflexes and the kind of temperament that can only be brought out through anonymous online play. If the core game was not so good, I would have given up on this there and then!

                  She's

created from Dr. Halsey's intellect and even Halsey

                  says this in Reach.

in the microchip that's inside the cylinder Halsey

                  gives to 6.

Doesn't matter how many Spartans you have fighting by your side on Legendary - they're immediately wiped out. And the (invincible) Noble squadmates ain't much better as they spend most their time hiding in cover waiting for you to advance, taking long shots with weapons designed for close-quarter combat or, worst of all, develop temporary blindness and deafness the moment they man a warthog turret. It's infuriating. Wouldn't be so bad if the enemy AI was equally dim, but they're not, they have keen eyes, steady hands and sneaky brains.

It's a fantastic game, very satisfying and rewarding to play, but sometimes it feels like the entire Spartan Army is made up of simpletons.
Know what you mean. In a few sections with my AI partner being so useless, I've had to scrap the Warthog and steal a ghost.

Another thing I'm annoyed about as I completed mission 3 on legendary. Because I went back to a rally point and not start it, I didn't get the achievement.

The friendly A.I is rubbish on this, they wont do anything half the time.

Also they somtimes seem to just disapear and come back 10 minutes later.

Heroic is quite challenging but still fun, its certainly not too hard or unfair so i would say go for that.

I'm going to see how I go tonight but I'm tempted to drop the difficulty and just cane the remainder of the campaign as my attention span each time I play is getting shorter. I'm not sure if it's the simplicity of some of the levels (Mission 4 being the weakest so far) but it's just not gripping me.

The individual firefights can be very involving as there's plenty scope for different approaches in this one and the game shines best in instances like the Nightfall level where it mixes up the play styles. At times though it can feel too much of almost a wave shooter. There's been nothing I'd call a set piece as yet, just one pocket of enemies after another. On the flip side I've not used the 2 day Gold access card that came with it yet and today the free Gold access on Live starts so I'm going to give the multiplayer a proper airing over the next few days. Nice to see my beta progress has carried over.

Does this game even have the regenerating shields, or was it ODST they were removed from?
