    After finished the campaign on solo Legendary and cleaning up some Achievements, I just finished my first multiplayer match (Elites vs. Elites Big Team Battle) and it played so much better and more polished than the beta and felt instantly more fun than Halo 3. We'll see how long the fun lasts.

      I was having a really good time yesterday and today playing the campaign.

      That is until I came across the ****-sandwich that is the "tank" level, which just cannot be finished if your tank sustains too much damage.

      I cannot recall the last time I have had to start a whole level again from scratch. Not amused at all.

        I hit a checkpoint just as a stack of some barrels exploded and was in an impossible death loop. I let it run a few times as I watched my corpse be flung all over the place and then it put me back to the previous checkpoint which was only about 30 seconds before. I was quite impressed!

          This is Incredible, its just like the best possible remake of HALO . Everything that made the 1st game so very special is here just in stunning High Def and using the NextGen to add to the overall experience, and I mean everything . The brilliant AI, The Sniping mission in the Dark (on the 2nd level) and then the be and end all silent cartographer style level, with a really impressive sense of scale and all out war.


          Also got the Reach 360 console , and after my Wondermega is the best looking console I've owned . I so wish SEGA would have went with the original sliver Champaign finish for the Saturn

            It's always been fixed. Let yourself die a few times and it will put you back to the checkpoint just before.

              i'm assuming you havent seen any of the bugs/glitches/extremely ropey AI, poor textures/slowdown yet/stuttery cut scenes

              If they had put as much time into the technical side of things as the story , well it would have been something really special

                Strange. I played through the story in co-op yesterday and didn't notice any of these problems, just had a really fantastic time with it. I've never been 'into' Halo before, so this one did surprised me and I'm glad some mates persuaded me to get involved.

                That said, the Armoury could do with some better additions to get me playing on-line matches. Some of that stuff is pretty weak yet crazy expensive innit.

                Also, would it be so hard to switch up some of the cut scenes depending on whether you are playing single or co-op campaign. Maybe that’s picky, but after Lost Planet 2 it was jarring not having my homeboys being represented in the story.

                Theatre has been scaled back too from what I remember of Halo3, would have loved to of paned around some of those epic ground punch evades - Scratch that - I was doing it wrong!XD

                Minor tings though, this is truly great stuff (from a non-Halo fan perspective anyways).

                  Yes but there were in HALO .

                  I've seen 2 cases of Bugs (dead characters floating in mid air) and AI enemy still going through it's run patters , even though there's a door blocking its path. For the most part these are few and far between and don't stop the overal enjoyment , just loving the game so far

                  Slowdown is just something I've used to, has it tends to happen in most games, and same for Textures(they will always then be a bad texture here and there in most games)

                        3 more days til I can play. I can't wait, although I did get to go to the top of a mountain today, which was cooler. More Just Cause2 than Halo though

                          After a few days play across all the modes I have to say I'm well impressed with how Bungie have integrated the online element into every aspect of the game. Being able to see your friends and their status at almost all levels of the menu, matchmaking, daily challenges, file shares, the match replays and facility to record your own clips. I know most of this has been present in some form or another since Halo 3 but they've really honed this element of the game.

                          On a seperate note, anyone have a bug with their solo campaign savegame that won't allow it to progress pass the first level? Even if I clock the level my savegame always resumes at the start. Didn't notice this before as my first campaign run was co-op and we were manually selecting stages from the lobby.

                            So whats everyones favourite combo of weapons? Mine at the moment are the DMR/Needle-Rifle and Plasma Pistol/Magnum.

                              The DMR with plasma pistol is pure evil and I love it.

                              Im finding quite a lot of players are simply leaving the plasma pistols without realising how deadly they are. The new charge restriction on it (hold it and it depletes rapidly) means you can only hold the charge a few times and need to time it well, but it's still the ultimate way to drop someones shields and then with the DMR they're a 1-2 shot kill.

                              That plus the fact the plasma charge stops vehicle engines for a couple of seconds means you're well balanced to stop most attacks.

                              I dont mind the needle rifle either but it's not a patch on the DMR.

                                Maybe I can't find them, but some important options seem to be missing when creating custom gametypes. We've tried to recreate BuggaBall (aka Dumball), a little gametype we setup in H3. It's basically Oddball, with some standard restrictions (1/2 speed for the carrier, but 150% jump, shield depletes 5% a second), with an interesting scoring system (1 point per second for the carrier, +5 points for the carrier per kill, +5 if you kill the carrier, -5 points for killing anyone else). However, we can't find the old options for Vampiric Shield, or setting up the unique scoring system.

                                Could well be there and we're missing it, would be odd for it to be taken away.
