That's the Firefight Original mode now isn't it? Hopefully Bungie will add it to the playlists when thye make their tweaks.

The fun I was having with this online is already disappearing. If you're shot first in a 1-on-1 shoot-out you usually lose the battle, the maps are too big for the number of players and that includes the 4v4 ones (where is the chaos of Halo 2) some of the game modes are rubbish, Banshees are overpowered but you can take a tank out with a few grenades on foot, constant black screens (connecting / starting) even when no one quits, slow to load. Disappointing.

Quick question,In theater mode how do you unlock the camera so that you can fly all over the map.

I can only fly round the main man in a 360 style.I thought in halo 3 you could go anywhere with the camera.

Have read the manual cant see anything there.

I love the armour lock. I had one guy on TDM shooting at me from behind and in an act of desperation I turned around, shot back briefly then smacked a frag grenade off his face and hit the armour lock. The guy starts trying to melee me and ends up getting blown up by the grenade I just threw, then I walk away unscathed with a huge grin on my face.

Really starting to love the multiplayer after a bit of a shaky start.

Pretty sure it's just the Y button you press after going to 3rd person by pressing the right analogue.

It's the Y button. So you know pressing start in Theater brings up a diagram of the 360 controller with all the Theater commands.

I've been enjoying Theatre myself - it's the only place to fully appreciate some of the detail that's gone into the animation, and am trying to capture a perfect run on Tip of The Spear on Legendary with various skulls switched on but always end up getting nailed not long after after squeezing the Warthog into the base midway between the two AA guns where you fight the Elite Zealot. Determined to do it though.

In the campaign the drop shield is probably the best ability I think. While you are inside it it fills your health back up (did it do this in the original game or ODST? I dont remember if it did), youre virtualy invicible if you have one.

I completed this earlier and I have to say that while I am going to atempt legendary there are some difficulty spikes I am not looking forward to revisiting on the hardest setting. The final section of the game was particuarly frustrating on heroic, all your men that come to help die within about 5 seconds and youre left with very little ammo as hammer and rocket launcher weilding brutes advance on you from all angles, I think I was very lucky to kill them in the end (plus I didnt have a drop shield).

Yup. Whenever you can TAKE the drop shield when it becomes available.
The most difficult parts for me (on Legendary) were:
                    Nightfall -

Basically, every sniper shot has to count as this stage is Elite central. Nothing more annoying than a cloaked Elite with pinpoint accuracy with the covenant laser...
The part where you have to protect Jun while he's doing his thing (though he's invincible during this phase) can be tough going, especially when the two Hunters drop down. When I did it, one of them knocked Jun into the river below and I was hoping he would respawn. Unfortunately he didn't, so from there on, I had to do the remainder of the stage without his diversionary antics. If things weren't tough enough.

                    The Package -

There's a reason why there's an achivement for getting the tank intact back to Sword Base for a reason. Essential for saving your ass against the torrent of Ghosts and turrets, with the ocassional Revenant for good measure along the route. Tricky.

                    The Piller of Autumn -

The first half can be quite straight forward. Though there's two essential weapons that you need, but you can only choose one with the other being a DMR. Before you get to the halfway point (the Boneyard type map) there's a Spartan Laser beside the dead soldier (before the big drop where there's elites/ jackals/ grunts) and little bit before that you can get the rocket launcher. Take one of them (I took the Spartan Laser) and carry it until the final showdown where you have to take on 3 elites before you can man the Mac Cannon. Not to mention the twin Hunter section a little before that.

The big fight at the boneyard is also tricky, with quite a few tricky elites (and one with a fuel rod) also, the weapons you get during the 'clear landing pad' scenario are poor with a few shots in the sniper rifle on top of the hut, 15 shots for the innefective grenade launcher, and lastly it's stocked with the MA37 Assualt Rifle with no DMR in sight. Thankfully it's only Brutes. but still annoying. When you've cleared the landing pad, take out the grunts first (before making your way to the Mac Cannon) and take out the Engineer (this goes without saying) when that's done, hopefully there's still some Fuel Rod guns and a Gravity Hammer (providing they haven't been spent) which you can use along with the Spartan Laser or Rocket Launcher on the last 3 elites. If there's any Plasma Pistols, they're a good option as well.
I think on the whole it took me over 3 and a half hours to do.

Figured I'd be done with it after beating Legendary but for days I've been enjoying myself replaying levels on Heroic/Legenadry with various skull multiplier combinations switched on, score attacking and just messing around.

Still don't like multiplayer (partly because I'm awful at it) but have enjoyed a few Invasion and Big Team Battle matches due to the large nature of the maps and the many vehicles which provide greater variety and better scope for just messing about and doing crazy stuff. It pisses me off how Snipers/Rockets/SWAT are always voted for as I find them limiting and tedious but, well, that's democracy for you. Not keen on the majority of the maps either, many seem terrible, especially the indoor ones. And though Firefight has been greatly expanded over ODST, I'm disappointed you can't play ODST style firefighting (a 5 setter) in Matchmaking.

But all said and done, I think it's a superior game to Halo 3 and ODST in every sense.
Swat and Snipers are the worst modes in my opinion. Some of the maps are terrible for them. I presumed you played with Gunner, as I got bored playing with him as he always wanted to do Swat and snipers. Something which I'm not keen on.

A couple more days into the multiplayer now and it's alright, certainly sitting with me better than it did with ODST/3. Two queries about it though:

-Not counting Firefight maps etc how many traditional multiplayer maps are there in this as it seems like I'm always on the same 5-6?

-Is it the same in all modes that if people on your team drop out the game the server doesn't replace them? I'm brassed off at massively losing team games because half way through I find my team is down to half man strength.

I definately find that the more traditional the game when online the duller the experience which is why I've found myself leaning towards Rally and Sniper games etc.

I think it's great online but it's quite clear some modes/game-types arent suited to some of the maps in rotation. Right now it really is just a stat-gathering tool for Bungie to then tailor accordingly.

I also think the maps on offer are limited, not least in number but also some are much better than others. I've read Bungie are implementing balancing tweaks and new forge maps early next month so hopefully that is a good shot in the arm for the playlists.

What I find weird as well is the maps that are exclusive to fire-fight mode... why? I can understand you not being able to play fire-fight on some MP levels that dont suit it, but the other way around there are definitely some fire-fight maps that suit Slayer and Team Slayer at the very least. Am I missing something here? Do they actually all crop up in normal rotation or are they actually not in the playlists at all?

As for SWAT/Sniper... they can be amazing on some levels and down right awful on others. Larger maps suit those modes better, SWAT is ok on some small maps but meh... I know what you mean. Sometimes they're a chore.

Only just finished single player last night and entire game was pretty epic.
Nice big levels throughout and some great scenes especially liked

the last moments of Noble 6, the helmet scene and 50 years later we all know Spartans never die they are just missing in action. Kat's death was a cracker did not see that coming AT ALL.

Now onward onto multiplayer, SOOOO god damn nice to have ivory tower back is a great level.

Yeah, I play with Gunner a lot. I like playing with him because where as I'm consistently the worst player in the match, he's consistently the best and that sets up some excellent banter. I call him a ****ing idiot and blame him for our team's defeat when we lose despite the fact he usually has 3 or 4 times as many kills as me and a fraction of the number of deaths, and he asks if I'll teach him everything I know after he sees me die in ways only a fool would. It's funny.

I have big gripes with Kat's Death, it took one shot to take her down? Surely her shields would have been up. :P Especially preceding that she was taking a bajillion bullets without dying.

It really took me out of the story that point.
