This disappoints me really. I did have it on preorder but cancelled because I sorted out my PC and upgraded. Its slipped onto my rental list even though Case Zero peaked my interest and eventually I will have a go at it.
The thing is after hearing peoples views after the release I am glad I copped out. It sounds like they have not learned a thing from Dead Rising even with switching to a US developer.
Case Zero sounds about all that I can stomach from that sort of gameplay, I have no real with to defeat the crappy psycho bosses or have cutscenes interrupt what is essentially a cool little sandbox.
Some of us still want to ignore the main plot, put together cool weapon combos and mess with the zombies. Either putting little hats on their heads or dismembering them in amusing ways.
Maybe I will be proved wrong when it drops through my letterbox but the things I hated about the last game haven't been fixed. I think it was too easy to blame it all on the save system in the last game but there where numerous flaws people mistake for game features.

After deciding I liked this, I went back and got Case 0. Some called it a glorified demo - I don't think that at all. There was plenty of game and the setting made it quite different to what we're given in the main game.
But more importantly, it told me quite a bit more about Chuck than the early part of the main game did. It really shouldn't be 360 exclusive and, if anything, should be part of the main game.
So now coming from Case 0 and getting back into the main game, I feel I'm starting with a bit more of everything - more skills, more story and a bit more practice. Still, it amazes me how similar the main game is to the first (it's almost like Gameloft made it). But I'm already finding loads to enjoy. I'm just messing about right now but there's plenty to see and plenty to use.
It's just a lot of fun.
And yet it still seems like there is more potential here just waiting to be tapped.

What a nightmare, having to keep track of every weapon in the game is frantic. I almost lost all hope when I had used all the Novelty items and didn't get S - Laughter, but when I found out that holding X on some items does an alternative kill/move (which I thought only worked on combo weapons, go figure), I went back and used a toy rabbit using the slam move and it popped up. Phew!
All I need now is the 72,000 kills. I made a start on it, but I feel like I might only cut it close, will keep a check on the time between kills before each save.
I am in the minority here saying this, but thank god there's no 14 day survivor shenanigans... that would be evil.

Same here, 72k kills and I'm done with this, I'm not gonna bother with the online cheevs as I tried the online modes but thought it was tat!!
The cheevs in this game are terrible for unlocking, I know I'd used weapons and melee items before but just wouldn't unlock!! Hopefully I'll have enough time for the 72k kills, if I miss it I won't be trying again.

Started playing a bit of this last night. Pretty good so far and better than first which i didn't really like even though the mechanics feel the same. There feels more to this for some reason.
I almost got killed tho at the very start as i didn't know where i was going, lol, was just bashing zombies looking for the green room and running out of weapons.
A few missions in now and pretty good tho so far

I enjoyed Case Zero for the most part, enough to be bothered to do it all but I think having what is essentially a enclosed and single version of the game chapters was more manageable than hitting all the deadlines in the full game.

Okay, not much of a question. But I'm looking at my 360, covered in dust, while the missus watches Dancing With The Stars and I want to play Dead Rising 2. But the missus is often watching stuff and then there's the whole RRoD risk.
But then I'm typing this on a pretty good spec laptop (just ran Crysis Warhead nicely) and I saw that Dead Rising 2 is on Steam and I thought... PC version? Could I just play that? I'm not all that used to playing console games on PC and only have a keyboard and mouse so is the game playable with those? Does it run well on PC? Should I go for it?
Or should I just get the 360 version and work around Dancing With The Stars?
This game suits a big screen tbh rather than a 24" monitor besides the fact that your system probably won't run it.

Did a few more achievements over the weekend:
Had 8 survivors in my party at once
Saved 50 survivors
Filled all entries in the notebook
I cheated and followed a guide to get 8 survivors and to save 50, though even without aid I'd have to say the process is far easier than in Dead Rising. The more intelligent AI made it reasonably easy and the time is quite generous that I found myself standing around just running down the clock. Carrying the leadership magazine also helped speed things up considerably.
I'm now working through the kill 1000 special zombies achievement, so got as far as
Overtime Mode
and then made two saves.

just use the
SUV on the platinum/silver strip or after case 6-1 drive it around the underground tunnels
and the survivor achievement/trophy is alot easier due to the fact there are tons more survivors,
65 in total
and
snowflake is a survivor
