That fan made Sonic looks immense. I really don't like the way it appears that the screen rotates when going through loops in the new one, does it do that on the console versions too? And why on earth did they include a homing attack in a 2D game, no need for it at all.

That fan one looks OK, but just like videos I've seen of the new official game, the animation loses a sense of speed. Sonic looks like he's plodding along more than he is running at high speed.

It's rendered over the top of the original S&K so everything is accurate.

I know I'm gonna crack and pick this up. Glad to see they largely fixed his running animation. As far as level design goes it looks immensely like the Mega Drive titles... in fact too much like them. That vid just looks like a Sonic 1 remake, Sonic 3 was easily more advanced than Sonic 4. Homing attacks have never bothered me to be honest, the hatred for them seemed a lot of fuss about nothing so I'll be alright there although once the novelty has worn off the rotating screen becomes annoying. I think the main issue is the lack of content for what they're charging.

I might get it when all parts are out and it's in a cheapy bundle price. Oh and virtual buttons can zod off, i'll get the PS3 version for the d-pad. How anyone can play platformers on an iphone is beyond me.

The virtual stick is very good, it works perfectly and is as good as a real life dpad. Works as well as it will on consoles I feel. iPhone gaming has improved a heck of alot recently in this regard.

I have to agree with that - I have had absolutely zero problems with the on screen stick, it's been incredibly precise and easy to use for me.

Casino Street Zone Act 2 has got to be one of the worst Sonic stages I've ever played, it's just incredibly dull having to rack up 100,000 points playing a pinball game that makes Sonic Spinball look like a masterpiece before you can even leave the stage, not to mention how everytime Sonic touches a flipper you have to watch as he slowly rolls down due to the **** physics, good stuff Sega.

Yeah, getting stuck on the flippers is a joy, isn't it? Actually, it's one area that illustrates what's not quite right - it has the exact same boss as Casino Night and so is an easy comparison as to how the different Sonics handle.

I think that one level may be one of the iPhone 'exclusives', as in they weren't all that good so have been replaced for the other versions. Thankfully, it is one of the worst levels and the others have much more to offer.

The labyrinth level is ace. No problems with controls or stuttering, but I'm playing the PSN version

Are all the levels unlocked on the console versions Strider? I hope not.

All the levels (bar the bosses and the last stage) are available and can be played in any order you fancy. It looks like it's a package geared towards time attacks and score runs.

I'm not particularly fussed about this, as I used to hate having to replay through the same stages to get to new ones. I can see how it will annoy some though.
