Well, stating your disappoint with certain aspects of a game you've been looking forward to is fine. There will be people who share your feelings - and others who don't. When people get stroppy about someone's view of things, just tell them that other people share your view, so what do they want to do.... accept your view is honest, or argue with lots of people with a similar viewpoint?

I've often moaned about the 30fps/60fps issue , but some people acted like I've been a lone voice, when in fact a reasonable percentage of people have shared my feelings. I tend to think some people are simply bullies, who enjoy singling people out for an unfair slagging off.

GT5 isn't the perfect game everyone was expecting it to be. Polyphony haven't changed their template at all, which is a bad thing, as nearly all racing fans have moaned about the series' design over the years. The visuals are also a mixed bag, so people have highlighted certain visuals shortcomings they're not happy with. All this talk about the limited Rally mode being amazing, and the constant talk of how fun the Karting is, highlights how Polyphony haven't delivered 100% on the central racing side of things. I haven't heard people raving about the normal racing as much as the Karting.

I think GT5 is good, but it's no way near the completely satisfying, wonderful experience that most people had hoped for. Polyphony & Sony should have concentrated on overall quality and fun... over quantity. I really think most racing fans aren't bothered about hundreds of cars - they just want a nice selection and a truly magical racing experience. Polyphony/Sony have, unfortunately, delivered a game that has left a lot of people underwhelmed.

Online on this game really sucks balls :/

Never encounter so many reverse driving idiots.

It's also crashed four times now in online mode - hard reset required - 6 years in development well spent then ...

5 times now - dies at the room selection, music stops, clock in the corner stops. Hard reset needed.

      Sloppy, very sloppy indeed.

And if you want to get decent lap times in the game - turn off the braking/line guide - it's very wrong.

Nearly jumped out the window when playing the rally events. The racing line is a hindrance to my progress. Only after I learned to ignore it, could I complete the events. And the game recently crashed while loading a track in singleplayer. Impressive.

Well, I ordered the game from Amazon yesterday and it arrived today Special Delivery. Played some Fallout 3 on the 360 while it installed.

First impression was that I didn't find the menus particularly objectionable.

Car choice was a bit of a bother. I agree the Used Cars are a little difficult to work through because of the order. I eventually Plumped for an FTO GR which I tuned a little. It roped home with relative ease.

The Yaris event was a pain due to getting a vanilla car when you are up against the Turbo version. With over 120 HP I managed to scrape a win.

I tried the Camper event and decided to abandon it before I got too annoyed. I will return to it at some point.

Lv 6 currently and just finished the FR event. Bought an RX-7 Bathurst Type R (or whatever) for around 30K for the purpose and spent a couple of grand to boost the power to around 316 HP. Needless to say I had no problems and the car was fun to drive.

Does the red oil-can light indicate an oil change is required?

          Enjoyment so far!!

Played about 4 hours. I'm enjoying it, but somehow I can't help escape the feeling that I played this 13 years ago...

Yeah old cars need oil change. And kill the racing line asap. Golded about all of B and A because i went without the line. Whats the use of these licenses anyway? I don't think any event still demands them?

I golded the Elise challenge, absolutely not fun. Good old exploiting of AI and their crap cornering and braking.

I bought a Clio V6 for the France races, love it to bits. Also won Beginner Rally with it. Decided to go snobby and bought a 458 Italia, beautiful and handling is like a dream. If anything this is the GT where you're going to use a boatload of different rides.

December 1997, Japanese import game Gran Turismo drops through letterbox. Countless hours later after wading through tons of **** cars the game begins to get better. Even then, what is the point of all the family sedans, I play games for escapism, not to drive me mam to the shops.

Swaps game in at Chips in Darlo

                Retuns rented game to Blockbuster

Inserts F1 2010, forgives Codemaster, plays a RACING GAME

                goodnight

Makes sense, as GT is a driving game rather than a racing game.

                    Why not switch it off?

my thought after 2 days i love it and hate it , the racing is good all the waiting for them to start is driving me mad , this has the worst interface of a modern game , ive gone back to need for speed for a break

I could do that, but that makes it much harder to see where I'm going in many of the stages. Particularly the rally events and the Top Gear Tracks.

Version 1.02 has just patched - 123 MB - hopefully this has sorted some of the online issues.

Well it hasn't crashed, but it's not really improved the online options - you can now set a maximum BHP and min weight - but limiting the car type / class etc is still a no go.

Online in GT5 is appauling given this game has been in development for 6 years.

How does the menus perform post patch? Still sluggish?
