I ended up with the same problem, ended up asking doodledude who was on my friends list if he could gift me one.

Don't bother buying one. You get a decent one as a prize for winning the Supercar Nostalgia Cup in the next tier.

Just keep checking back after every race, used cars are always coming into the shop, there are some decent older Skylines that pop up there from time to time, wait until you see one that seems like a good one though, some of the older cars are rubbish regardless of how much bhp they have as they have fewer gears and tend to have poor top speeds.

any way to get rid of the ugly HUD, or parts of it? it's most distracting in the cockpit view...

I was in a race last night where I was closely following a Ford GT and the sound this thing was making was absolutely magnificent. The Jaguar XJ220 is another car that sounds great when you're behind it.
right, it's not bad, it's just not what "the real driving simulator" in 2010 should sound like. i really wonder if Yamauchi did play Race Pro, Forza 3 or Need for Speed Shift - most likely not. and where's the windscreen noise gone? do i have to unlock this too?

I'm in heaven with this right now.

I can't explain why but my whole life, whenever I've been playing a racing game and get in the zone I always have the themes from bonanza and rawhide going round in my head (I guess it's the "rollin rollin rollin!" part, and bonanza follows naturally). Praise be for custom soundtracks! I found an awesome medley of them both that is surely going to put the wind in my sails on the nordschliefe

It is the best racing game. Just need to stick with it.

Am I the only one who's found Daytona to be utterly impossible in that? Every time I'm doing well and then I get spun out and that's that. One time I ended up in the pits, just to make absolutely sure my race was ruined.

And trying to put the power down in first gear is far harder than any other car, that I've come across at least, especially if you've geared it for acceleration for the non-ovals.

Also, I had my Veyron selected and clicked on engine overhaul to see what the deal was etc, only to later realise I was 600,000 credits down and of course it'd autosaved this - totally unfair, especially as I was saving up for an F1 car.

Anyway, which race or whatever do people think is good for level grinding/money grinding? Since they've turned the game into such a chore in this way...

I'm up to level 25 and have unlocked the Endurance races and done the first one, which is good for EXP, but a bit rubbish for money really, considering it took me 2 hours and only gave me about 137,000 credits.

What level has eveyone else got to?

glad to hear that some of you think the game is worth sticking with it. i doubt though that GT5 turns out to be the best racing game - a good driving game maybe, but not the best racing simulator!

i wish someone could tell me how to get rid of the HUD in cockpit view, but i guess it's just not possible.

the game, even after 5 years in development, feels unpolished and unfinished for me, lacking in options and audio-visual finesse of the predecessors. i have yet to race a single track that impresses in terms of environmental details and overall visual appeal. and the amount of tearing is sickening me.

Anyone know if it's possible to tune my RAM 1500 Laramie Pick-Up truck to deal with the Pick-Up truck race at Daytona?

All I get is a cough and splutter at around 125mph
