TG challenges range from hard to easy imo. I found the VW one to be the hardest. The Elise I could control perfectly with traction 2. Its all about braking later than the pack, and overtake them at the bends. It seems that you can hit them as long as its not frontal on your side.

Anyone had a go at the "GT-R Lap Record" trophy? I had a few attempts the other day and thought I had put together quite a decent lap, but I was dismayed to see me cross the line about 7 or 8 seconds too late.

I'm reasonably competent on the 'Ring. I've earned golds in all but one of the AMG driving school tests so far and some of those have been tough, but that GT-R laptime seems to be on a different level altogether. I reckon you'll have to be on the ragged edge in pretty-much every corner for the entire lap to do it.

I'm just doing the stuff I like in GT5. There's plenty to annoy me in here but also plenty that I love. I guess it was always going to be that way. Doesn't bother me that there are some challenges that I'll never be good enough at. It's supposed to be a simulator after all. If we could all to every challenge then we could all become pro racing drivers in every type of driving category that exists.

Does it have to be a stock GT-R?

It has to be a stock '07 GT-R I presume that includes the tyres.

I have been after the VW Schwimmwagen but decided I could not justify the 625K so arranged for a free one!!

I set up a new PSN Account (I wanted one for a new game so that I could note the Used Cars as they appeared). I set my birthday to today's date with a year of 1942.

Set up my normal account on the new account's Friend List and accepted on original account.

Back to new account. Fired up GT5 and received a 1942 Gift Car certificate for the Schwimmwagen and loaded the car to my garage. Amazingly it was the colour I wanted.

Went into Community and Gifted the car to my normal account (if you need money it is not sellable).

Went to my normal account and started GT5 and received my Schwimmwagen. Result!

For money the 1944 Kubelwagen can be sold for 25% list. Other years it is a random car though 1967 can give nice ones (not sellable though). Avoid 1979 apparently.

Very cunning! Can you alter birthdays on existing accounts as I have three profiles set up for store access and no need to have accurate dates on them. Probably not.

In some races the Jaguar XJR race car puts out loads of smoke, which is a nightmare if you're trying to overtake it, especially on the old Nurbugring where I literally couldn't see the track and was driving flat out through numerous corners trying to pass him. How a car putting out so mu7ch smoke could be leading the race I don't know, you'd think he'd have no power and would be retiring.

It's just another scummy way to make things unfair.

Also, I bought a GT1 car, then of course did one race in it and won another, better one, though I doubt I could have won it without a GT1 car...

I got punted off just before the big straight in the horrible Nurbugring 24 track, having spent nearly half an hour in the lead, making almost no mistakes in a 950bhp 850kg GT car that'll spin out in 4th gear if you try to put the power down through a corner, most unfair thing yet. I deserve a medal for that drive, 2nd place is nothing.

Just tried making an account with a 1967 date and got the Miura Prototype at the second attempt. Checked the partial Prize Car list at GTP and could not see it as a prize.

Isn't the Miura Prototype like the most expensive car in the game? There is only one around in the real world afaik.

I found the Vette ZR1 Race Modded is awesome. What a beast. I completely smoked the race cars on Daytona Road course. Not before I had a crazy roll over during a clash with an Escudo, that was some sick stuff.

But I'm still struggling to find the right tuning setups for Indy. It IS competitive in that tier though. And already driveable at lower levels. Total costs are 600k ish.

That Muira is "only" 15 million in the game. The Ferrari P4 is 20 million.

I have been using the Race Modded ZR-1 on that Indy American race for some easy money. Best yet was (I think) just under 4 minutes for 98K. which with menus would be just over a million credits an hour.

I have been making good use of the Formula GT to clear up some the outstanding series in the 4th and 5th Tiers. Still need a Historic Motor though and a German Touring car, for the ones the Formula GT isn't valid for. Not keen on the 20 lap races or the 3 laps of the extended 'Ring in those last two Championships of Tier 5. I wonder if completing that unlocks the track for Arcade and Practice.

Wasn't everyone bitching that Laguna Seca isn't in the game? The 3rd or 4th test for the I-A license is how to drive the corkscrew :/ Just another case of people looking at a game for 5 seconds before dismissing it as incomplete?

On another note, that night race in Tuscany for the grand tour is bloomin' ridiculous! Unless I have another car right in front of me I have no idea where the road is, headlights don't do a damn thing when you're going over blind crests every 10 seconds! I came in 30 seconds behind first place ><

The cars you drive in that series of events are all spectacular though - anyone who complains that this game is dull needs to give them a whirl.. OMG
