Well, I've given it a fair go this afternoon but it's not for me.
At times it looks stunning but then there are times when it looks really basic - smooth but still basic. Some tracks are sorely lacking in detail.
The apparent lack of AI is almost laughable. That opponents still drive an almost perfect line with little in the way of racing aggression takes me out of the experience.
Sound is patchy. I'm using 5.1 and some engines sound amazing but I've had opponent engine noise cut in as if from nowhere despite having been neck and neck with them for a few metres. Crash sounds too are feeble and the feedback from the DS3 isn't enough.
I've installed it too and yet there are still far too many pauses between screens.
I expected more after 6 years.

I remember I went totally bonkers for GT1 and I was working for Game when GT3 came out and I put so many hours into that it's unreal! I remember I'd get into trouble for talking to customers about the game for aaaaages!!
Maybe I've changed as a gamer. Where I don't have all the spare time I used to I've moved away from games that require such an investment.

It really is a case of some fancy visuals and improved handling. Ultimately it is still the same game. That isn't to say there is anything wrong with that of course, for some it is perfect but others wont see it like that.
