I got that Le Mans Blue with Red and Silver Stripe colour in one of the daily intake. Did a brief preview before Quitting to avoid using it and liked the blue that it gave. Used Backup/Restore to send 5 to my main account (it was on another account) and then used the same process to return 5 from the main account and used one on the Mustang I used in the seasonal. Looked good with some gold coloured wheels.

Thought I would see who made it and tried Chevrolet to start with and was correct! I suspect it is the colour that is used on the Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport '96 (or whatever year). I'll have to check that.

Just checked and that C4 Grand Sport is a different blue so I have no idea which car uses that colour (other than a Chevy of course). The earlier Le Mans Blue Corvette is just a plain Le Mans Blue Metallic.

    This is crazy!!!

What are the benefits of engine and chassis rebuilds? I'm having to spend 50millon my NOMAD every 4 or 5 races, although I can't really see any difference if I don't do the rebuilds.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

The NOMAD from the Online Dealer needs no Engine Overhaul as you get the same amount of horsepower from just an oil change and so probably doesn't need a chassis overhaul. It certainly seems to handle OK. Same with the FGT from the Online Dealer.

The one from the UCD does actually benefit from the Engine Overhaul as it will have more Horsepower than just Oil. Same with the UCD's FGT though the difference is not great (about 10 HP).

I would think that the breakeven point on an Engine Rebuild is around 3,500 Km (about 2175 miles).

If the car handles loosely a Chassis Overhaul will sort it out. I had a Veyron that had been used hard and needed a Chassis Overhaul at about 1400 miles (about 2250 Km).

Engine Overhauls are something of a con! They do have a benefit, but that benefit is dependent on mileage. The more miles, the less horsepower you would get from the same Engine. A high mileage (300,000 Km) car has the least Horsepower and will match the quoted figure for the car (Description) after an Overhaul,

Sorry PS3 buffer for the previous post was full.

Just did a comparison test on a Toyota Vitz Turbo (the best option for the Yaris/Vitz series). The car had done 25,000 miles (40,000 Km). As purchased it had less than 130 HP. The HP quoted in the Description was 147 HP. An Oil Change gives it 136 HP. An Engine Overhaul gives it 142 HP. This is still well short of the Quoted figure.

I have noticed some oddities when comparing Oil Change and Engine Overhaul to the Quoted Horsepower, but over that minimum mileage, the Engine Overhaul is the better Option for getting the most Horsepower. It is a real pity the Engine Overhaul does not produce consistent results regardless of mileage. For the amount of money you pay I would have expected a new engine!

Another of the little quirks that GT5 uses to annoy us (well me anyway). It is things like this that make me want to use the Birthday Exploit so that I can get a car with a new engine!

You mentioned a while back that they had nerfed that exploit a little. True? I was tempted myself.. also don't you need a unique email address for every PSN account you set up?

                  Comment

The email can be fictitious but I have a domain name with emailing so I have been using a valid email for all my permanent accounts.

Just had a try at that annoying (well the noise of the car anyway!) i-MiEV race on another account. I had bought the three cars without the i-MiEV "advertising" and went with the Solid Red this time. Not wanting the "advertising" I tried painting it with the colour it came with and the car was then completely red. Decided it was time to do the race with no upgrades (I fitted tyres the last three times). First lap did not go quite as well as I liked and some AI overtook me on lap 4 just before the Start/Finish straight and inevitable got in my way (You only need brake to a greater or lesser extent for the first three corners) so that slowed me a bit. I still won by 2.5 seconds though, so one of the easier Bonus Races.

I have now completed the third set of Seasonals on all my accounts and am aiming to finish the fourth well in advance of their expiry date.

                      Stupid PS3 buffer lol!!

My last "Birthday" Account for 1970 is the most useful as I kept it with the Year Token unopened so that I can use it whenever I want to see what cars I can get (restoring from my backup after use of course). Using that method means I don't have to use it on the day! So far I have had (and kept by sending to other accounts) my Tuxedo Black Chevelle and last night a Black Cherry Metallic Chevelle. The rest (2J, Celica, Superbird, Colt, Charger amd Mini Marcos) I have a decent selection of already! I have yet to see a Toyota 7 (won one anyway) so I am not convinced they appear.

Next time I get a 100/1000 Ticket I will do the same, and keep it to get a car whenever. At least that way I will be a little less fussy about what it gets me! The GT Academy 370Z can only be obtained from a Ticket, so that is one to aim for!

I've been chatting with my brother about GT5 yesterday, and we've both come to roughly the same conclusion.

The content Polyphony cram into GT is not replicated by any other developer, the driving physics is second to none, the track list is full and varied and the rendition of the cars is as close to real life as currently possible. However, every other facet of the game I did not mention, is either done better by other developers, is missing completely or is done to a poor standard.

Chief among these is the single player progression. We've both exceeded 50% game completion and seen the end credits hours ago, but we've both hit a brick wall in regards to what cars we can enter. GT continually gives the player poor reward cars and has priced the Extreme cars to such a high level, that the only option available is forcing us to grind a single race in till we can buy a car. After I grinded around 3 million credits for a few cars, and my brother 10 million for the F1 2010, we're both bored about the prospect of doing that again. So we never will.

Polyphony have locked content away from people that are not prepared to continually play a race to grind for money. This is 2011, Gran Turismo 5 is in the company of Uncharted 2, Elder Scrolls IV, Modern Warfare 2, Mass Effect 2 and Trials HD. Why the hell does it have to revert to an ancient game mechanic that no longer has a place in this generation?

Despite this, the core driving mechanic is solid, and that's why it's so frustrating that the game play progression locks you out of some fantastic events and cars. I just want to drive the cars that you've hidden from me!

                        Comment

I agree with you... to an extent. However, the new Seasonal Events go some way to solving the problem as they will gain you levels very fast and allow you access to all those cars you can't currently buy, and give you a decent amount of money to get you started.

                          Comment

Since I started again I did all of the licenses and all of the seasonal events. I am up to level 27, have over 300million in the bank, and I have around 30 fully upgraded cars. Only last night did I start A-spec, and whilst using the NOMAD in the Sunday Cup isn't very exciting, it does mean I can get to the real meat pretty quickly. By the time I get there I shall probably already have cars I can use, and not have to buy anything.

I've found that if you play GT5 in a certain way, you will never have to grind to "play" it, only to collect cars. The only cars I have bought so far, are ones that are required for seasonal races, which can also be used in A and B-spec races too. You only have to buy four cars to complete the game, otherwise prize cars can be used throughout.

GT5 can be enjoyed a lot more if you play it in a certain way. There is no doubt about this.

I have one new account that has done the unlimited Seasonals and some of the Special Events and it has 10 million Credits and is Lv25 going on Lv 26!

i have no idea why people are grinding so much.
i'm pretty close to level 30 now, with 8million in the bank and over a 150 cars.
                                Zero grinding.

now i'm just buying interesting cars and picking a race that might be fun. bought the Garaiya today and redid the japanese championship. was easier than i thought it would be, the exp and credits were worthless, but i still enjoyed it. i cant imagine why anyone would do the same boring oval race a million times.

with the next seasonals i'll hit 30 easily, i think that unlocks the vettel stuff.
