Close to the end now and getting a little fed up. Waaaay to many necromorphs crammed into small spaces. Every corner you turn around there is another batch of them and when you kill those, 3 more waves emerge before you can take a few steps and do it all again. I like difficulty in my games but this is more frustration than anything else.

Youre actualy better off just carrying and upgrading the Force Gun and Plasma Rifile around with you on your first playthrough as when you take into consideration both of their fire modes you actualy have enough variety for any situation.Last edited by rmoxon; 09-02-2011, 12:04.

Just hit chapter 10 and have sold it along with most of my ammo to buy the Nodes I needed to level up my Status for the achievement - hope its pretty quiet for a while so I can hunt out some more cash...only got the basic cutter now.

finished this now...last boss was underwhelming and the ending was too. oh well.
sadly due to the saves limit I wont be able to try hardcore mode...normally only get a max of 90 mins per gaming sesh. 5 saves and I could maybe have done it as even with half an hour of powernode farming it only took 10 hours to finish on normal.
off to the trade forum and on to the next game!!

I did a bit of back tracking once I got to the
ship from the first game
because I'd just found the final Node I needed to completely level the Status thingy and remembered passing a Bench. Anyways, was pleased to discover that enemies don't respawn so was completely free to run the whole way and properly hunt around for goodies. Best thing was using the force lift to pick up lighting rigs and glow sticks to light the way ahead. Was still creepy as fook though...I must be a massive pussy cos this game does give me the willies tbh...its totally down to the sound effects...just knocking over a bucket is enough to get me on edge. I bought the
security suit
and was on HIGH ALERT until I realised that thudding coming out of my sub woofer wasn't a giant mutant killing psycho monster but the sound of my new boots!

Finally finished it.
Not impressed with the way it finished or the game structure as a whole. It lacks the variety of the first game which had elements such as huge boss battles, space shoot outs, mini games (like the shooting gallery and that sport where you had to shoot balls through the hole within an allotted time limit), to prevent the game becoming monotonous.
The Zero-G sections were much improved but little interesting was done with them. Visually, the game is amazing, but there were just too many necromorphs packed into tight spaces room after room, where the game difficulty relied on you getting jumped from behind or the weakness of the controls, instead of providing actual interesting and *fun* challenges. Possibly this is a symptom of playing it on hard for my first play through.
It started well, always looked good, but I was past bored by the end. Online is not as bad as some people say it is. Had a little fun in my few goes.

Finished last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looks and sounds great, and controlled beautifully. Much more action oriented than the first. Ace new baddies,
especially the cheeky and oddly cute raptor things.
. Fewer scares overall, I thought, or maybe that's because we know now how Dead Space scares work. I think they over-compensated a bit too much with too many open-arena type battles and seemingly endless crowd-control sections, especially in latter chapters.
13 and 14 were absolutely dire, as has been noted, as was the dreadful final boss battle. It felt almost like a second-string development team had taken over for these points.
I much preferred the build-up to the ending in Dead Space 1. Liked the occasional slapstick/black-comedy elements, which I hadn't been expecting.
First encounter with exploding baby in nursery, for example.
The post-credit set-up/to be continued... for another dozen or so Dead Spaces was groanworthy.

I'm on the final chapter now (I think) and what the monkey hell happened to this game...it feels like its turned into
Gears of War 2 as I'm suddenly riding on the back of some giant drill thing
and monsters are being dropped right behind me or on top of me with no chance of effectively defending myself (unless you can learn the pattern and be moving into anticipated spaces before each wave)? I've switched to the Force Gun and any slicing precision has gone right out of the window. Looking foward to getting it over with now so I can start again trying out some other weapons, you know,
for teh GEES!!1
