Just getting stuck into this and now that the training wheels are off (ch. 3) it's a hell of a lot of fun. I think it's destined to remain very much in the shadow of Vanquish, which (for me at least) does the whole slide, slo-mo, melee thing better. Also, I think the 3rd person view of Vanquish gives much better situational awareness for this kind of high speed chaos. I'm often blindsided in Bulletstorm due to 1st person view, or maybe due to being a bit crap. Loving the lunatic weapons, characters and scenarios (

    remote control dino - lol

) in Bulletstorm, though, which is where it arguably has some advantange over Vanquish. Well worth a play through, I'd say. Two-thumbs fresh.

Deffinitley one aspect of this that is alot better than vanquish are the set peices... yeah that had its moments, but some parts of Bulletstorm are just completely jaw dropping, especially towards the end of it.

Can we have a poll put on here for this btw? its a 9/10 from me.

actually this was the game i thought vanquish should have been as more rewards for skills more variation and better rewards in upgrading weapons

my only complaint with the game was...too short...and could have done with more weapons

I think Vanquish's scoring system seemed like it was pretty much an afterthought for the developer, it didnt really have any effect on the way you played the game, it was just Gears of War with robots/people in robotic suits.

As far as killing people goes Bulletstorm is designed with as much variety as possible in mind, so youre just naturaly always looking for the next way to take someone out, its certainly not just a standard shooter in that respect.

I think both games are great but Bulletstorm is certainly crazier and more over the top by a fair bit.

            Done!

I'm still playing this, pretty much the only game I'm playing now and it hasn't got at all stale. The only weak part of the whole game is the multiplayer in my opinion, which is let down by too many players not playing the team game.

played both - the ps3 version looks sharper (less AA) and has a lossless 7.1 soundtrack

other than than they seem the same

Finished this last night. It was let down a bit in last 2 chapters by technical issues (PS3 version): chronic slowdown/choppiness in mini-boss battle jamboree, then a section when I couldn't adjust weapons loadout (several weapons assigned to same slot, then coming up randomly, etc.) Even so, this didn't take the shine off a very enjoyable experience overall. Terrific knockabout fun, it was, with surprisingly rich characterization and story given the publicity that was going round before release, not least the endless bilge from EA ("The baddest motherf***** in motherf*** town!", etc.). Personally I still think Vanquish - which it resembles in so many ways - is the superior game, as it flows much more convincingly than the stop-start rhythm of Bulletstorm. But I really look forward to Bulletstorm 2, which was set up very nicely at the end.

Can't really comment on MP as I only managed to join one game. Every other attempt over 3/4 days gave me 'game lobby closed'.

Not really, the PS3 version might have a slight edge in sound, but it's graphically inferior.

Unreal Engine 3 has become almost ubiquitous in the current-generation console era, but it's comparatively rare that we…

Finished this last night after picking it up on the cheap a week or so back. TBH it only took that long because I was pacing myself and had to tear myself away at the end of each chapter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this - reservations about the potty-mouth debacle they tried to present it as before release faded away when I realised that it's tremendous fun. Big, dumb and stupid but tremendous fun all the same.

I think I didn't mind it so much because they were clearly playing it all for laughs, unlike Gears of War's po-faced sillyness which meant that became somewhat unbearable by the end ("me Tai Kaliso, big um proud warrior hurnnnnngh!" ). I hope Cliffy B's learnt something there and taken some of that away with him for Gears 3, meaning it won't be so unbearable plot wise.

Can't wait for the inevitable Bulletstorm 2 as they've lots to build on.

I take it you played through it on the Xbox 360? I'm still looking for some PC gaming buddies for this.

I still play Anarchy mode, brilliant fun.

                            Yeah, 360.

I still haven't tackled the online side or Echoes yet. I did see that the PC version is down to a rather crazy ?12.99 at Bee.com

This is a fantastic game - brilliant visuals and set pieces with fun gameplay that sucks you in.. And some of the jokes/lines are pretty damn funny.
