No guys i have'nt played it and ive only watched the advert for it
I really am scared to death about playing this game. I hated Mario Kart 64 and it sounds like DD is more of the same. I was gutted after paying 100 odd quid for the jap version of Mario Kart 64 and i never want to feel that way again.
I expected so much from MK64 and i was hoping that Nintendo got there act together and did the biz with DD but it looks like they have'nt.
I suppose i could stop being such a pu$$Y though and face my fears by atleast renting the game out

If you are unsure whether to get it or not, or want to avoid being disapointed, dont bother with it. You will ensure you arent disapointed then.
There are plenty of other games to buy anyhow.
EDIT. rjpageuk, I'm sorry mate but simply saying "If you don't like the game just don't buy it then" means nothing on a video games forum.
I have played it, you havent. I have said numerous times it is a great game. You are basing your opinion from a review. If you want to do that it is your choice, but there is little more any of us can say on the matter that hasnt already been said 100 times.

Well, just to add my 2p...
I've had the game since play-asia shipped preorders and my bro and i have been going through the game in coop and in vs on the GP mode, and well we are having a whale of a time. Then again, I had a whale of a time with MK64 and am still completely mystified by the amount of people that HATE it. Yes, yes, it is not about your skill, the AI is unfair, you can't hop, skip and twirl, the cars are not karts, and it is not a hardcore racing experience...all these things were done to make the game more accessible. In interviews with the devs they stated the reasons they changed all these things, and they were all to make the game more accessible. I am sure everyone here has had the experience of a 'casual gamer' coming round and being put off a game because you are sooooooooo obviously better at it than them. The reviews are probably right with their 7/10 avg. scores. This means in lay terms that the game is a good game, but pushes no boundaries of gameplay. I don't personally agree with this 'cos i think the two player coop per kart is an inspired idea, but I can see where all these reviewers are coming from.
Bloody hell! Just get the game, get round some friends, and if you still don't enjoy it, put it up on ebay. I am sure someone would buy it off you
I just feel sorry for nintendo.

Well i hated MK64.
Paid ?120 for it, still i was never going to not play MKDD so it was bought upon Jap release.
Its supurb, not in the same way snes mk was but i love it none the less.
It can be had for ?23 pal if u get via the Littlewoods online deal. Just buy it, if u dont like it sell it on ebay for the same u bought it for. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
I mean not playing a game purely on other peoples judgements (which i may add do not tally up with the majority on here) is plain silly.
I mean the press slated star wars on release.

FFS Shin Gouki, you clearly don't want to be convinced. You have made up your mind that this game is **** based on reviews and before playing this game, and the fact that the individual reviews of the rest of this board, present in this thread mean nothing as you are willing to refute them on peripheral things and completely ignore others.
Fair enough, if you don't want to enjoy this game then that's your choice. But ffs, don't come into this thread claiming: 'ninty have messed this game up', or 'you'd expect more from a Ninty game' without having first played it.
Bring something intersting to this discussion, and I'll be happy to discuss them. But I assure you this isn't a discussion:
GAME CENTRAL MARIO KART DD REVIEW!!!!!!!
So i suppose Game Central 7/10
IGN 7.9/10
Edge 5/10
Gamespot 7.9/10 are all wrong are they?
I was hoping that the negative reviews (please don't tell me 7 out of 10 is a good score ) were all BS but after reading the Game Central reveiw i will not be buying this game after all
I think there are too many Nintendo "fan boy's" trying to justify there purchase of DD by claiming that all the average reviews (yes 7, 7.9 out of 10 is average) were out of order.
Nintendo, you have messed up!

Oh man, I love this! Finally had some decent time to play it (hence *this* - millions of wires, several cubes... not good) in its various modes and it's great!
Fave things are the animation; so much stuff is going on on the screen and everything is alive, solid and colourful. Weapons are great, with character specials (Bowser's giant turtle shell is awesome) and the two-player co-op works really well. Even the missus got a hold of the powerslide and side-swipe techniques straight away, in addition to "PARP!!" teh horn when no weapons are being held
Weapons are great too - loads of tactical play and "quick, swop!!" momentsI like how characters drop weapons when you blast 'em too; makes for good multiplayer moments
Love it man - it's fast, easy to play and mucho fun. Also, MKD has the best surround sound test EVAR!!!1!!

Enough of the MK64 bashing already, its easily the most played N64 game in my house, not because the single player game was so rewarding and I just couldn't put it down but because all of my peers enjoyed it in multiplayer and had FUN!! Do you see?
More laughs, shouting matches, groans than any other game ever, it is better than SNES MK and people that don't think it is are wrong!! Only battle mode on the SNES was better.....
I for one am looking forward to getting DD (today please Goblin!) purely for this aspect alone, a game where my girlfriend and I (and others) can play on an even playing field.
