Mario Kart Double Dash

Mirror mode! Damn thee! Every time I've played on the Rainbow Road, I've come 8th. I only managed to spawn a gold cup with 30 points because the computer driver chuffed up.

So imagine my joy as I'm doing the Mirror Mode All Cup Tour.... last track - Rainbow Road and I'm 2 points behind the leader. No flipping chance.

Somehow - I get out in front and stay there..... Lap 3 spiralling down the last corner - BLUE SHELL - *bang* followed by RED SHELL - *bang* and all of a sudden I can hear Petey Pirhana's kart behind me.

Hit an item box, green shell, fire it behind just as his wheel's touch mine. *BANG*, he flips over, I cross the line - 1st!!!!

Yaaaay! I love Mario Kart!

I had a smaller scale victory last night on DK Mountain. I was trying for the 50cc Gold Cup (haven't played it THAT much yet) and needed to come first to take it, or at least not have Yoshi and Birdo win. By act of very bad driving I got mangled by the boulder then went down the crevice avoiding a banana on laps 2 AND 3. Shameful performance, and I went second behind Yo and Do but still had them in my sites. Fired off a green shell in panic. No banana. Then we were onto the rope bridge. God knows how but on the bridge they started to swerve left and then headed in towards the post of the finishing line. I kept my straight line and passed the post in first place! Woohoo!

I've had a similar story compared to those above only I was on the losing end. I was having a shocking race on Luigi Circuit and was going round in 5th place for the most part but with some determined driving and use of the weapons I got myself to within sight on the kart in front, Waluigi and Wario. I had two red shells left and hit them just before they were about to cross the finishing line and stopped them dead before it but out of instict I had fired the second shell as well which punted them across the line in 3rd place. I came 4th. I lost the cup by 2 points

The game has a lot of hidden depth. I found out today that you can dodge blue shells if you're drifting on a turn and you drift-boost at the right time. It isn't something you can do on your own when you notice it's coming because it needs to be at a tight corner, so it's really more luck than anything else. I've dodged a Blue Shell on at least five different occasions.

Gah! I can't get to grips with drift boosting to the left. To the right it is easy, to the left...GAH!

Yes.

Started playing this game properly yesterday. Started off with the heavy karts and was awful. Switched to the light karts, using the Green Koopa, and nothing can stop me now.

Quite impressed with the game so far.

This games dead to me. I completed all the cups & mirror on gold and I feel no incentive to play it again for some reason. Not really into time trial's either so I'm ****ed I got a platinum wavebird last week for this game too, but my wife wrapped the bloody thing up! Hopefully when I get my hands on it, multiplayer games will bring it back to life for me.

I completed the game by using Bowser and Koopa.
Bowsers strength to muscle out all opponents and Koopa's chucking skills saved me from banana's, shells, etc.

Just unlocked Luigus mansion battle stage, its da bomb! only gold to get on star and special 150cc now, i am stuck at silver and getting pissed with being blue shelled! 8)

i'm having problems getting gold on 150cc for most of the cups (im crap though) with light carts, so i might try heavier characters later on today. The latest NGC has a really good MKD spread. Hopefully that'll help as well.

I haven't had any problems so far.

When i've got a good start and got a nice lead i've never been beaten - i don't think the other cars "catch-up" unfairly. A couple of times i've been bombed out near the line when winning, but i've also done the same back and won by a whisker.

As for the All Tour Cup - 16 races with no option to save. ft:
