    Not had a chance to try out anything more than the demo yet, but I like the fact that it seems to be very different. A lot of the staples of a 2d fighter don't seem to work the same here which could be interesting. I used to play MK before but it's been many years, couldn't even remember there was a block button.

    There's been some tournament play cropping up

      the endings in the arcade mode....lots better then marvel vs capcom 3 ...was really happy they decided to give characters endings though ...they could have easily said no let people stick with the story mode

        I think there are problems online at the moment, alot of people complaining how laggy the gameplay is on various MK forums and also alot of disconnection problems. early days thou.

          This really is great it's good to see Mortal Kombat back on form. As other have said the amount of Kontent (Sorry). Really make this feel like value for money I pre-ordered mine from amazon. So really liking the classic skins it's just a shame they are not available to all. I have also had an issue with the sound being very low. As other have said the online in rank mode is very laggy and a bit of a let down. I noticed most of the laggy fights I had my oppents played as scorpion....

              Picked this up today.

              Its absolubtley brilliant.

              As i mentioned earlier in this thread Im crap at beat em ups so dont have much intrest in online (which considering I have the PS3 version currently matters little anyway) but there is so much content in single player here I will be playing for ages anyway.

              The story mode is decent but it does have its faults, for instance its a retelling of the Mortal Kombat story yet its still not really made for people new to the series as it just kinda drops you into it without explaining how the characters got to where they are. Younger players may be left scratching their head a bit really.

              The other more standard modes are great though and the challenge mode certainly has a hell of alot more too it than any similar features in other beat em ups.

              From a gameplay perspective its just great, the movesets are generaly easy to learn but the combo system is really quite deep and open in how you can link moves together. Its also good that they made the xray moves simple to pull off as i feel it actualy makes play more balanced as you still have to be skilled deffence to avoid those attacks. Its a really well made and balanced game all round actualy.

              Im very impressed.

                still loving this lads I wish I could get online, but im 223 in challenge tower and have all endings and all kontent from the krypt. Just need to finish off getting the endings and hopefully Sony will pull their finger out so I can play online.

                Great game though, an absolute blast in every sense of the word.

                  Thanks to Portal 2 I've not managed to sink a massive amount of time in this but to sum it up whilst SF4 has a vastly superior set of mechanics to this as a complete game package this absolutely thrashes Capcoms fighter and shows how lazy they were with that. Cracking entry.

                    I wouldnt say SFIV has vastly superior mechanics, infact both games feature relativley simple mechanics and both are quite easy to learn.

                    The depth of both games comes from the way you can use those mechanics and I think they are both on a pretty even keel really.

                      As much of an improvement as this is on the earlier games I'd definately say it's still nowhere near as deep as the other top tier fighters. It's fun and largely mindless fun (largeyl why I prefer it, lol) but it'll never trouble the tournaments. It's a pretty simple creature.

                        For those that have not already, Google unlockables/alternate costume locations for the Krypt. An easier way to know where the locked fatalities plus costumes, are instead of gettin loads of paintings like I did with all my Koins at first.

                        Also watch out for the screaming weirdo on the Krypt! It made me jump more than Dead Space 2. (Keep yr sound low when in the Krypt)

                          I knew there was something scary in the krypt but didn't know what, and now I do

                          1000 koins says I still get scared the bejesus out of, regardless, cos I'm that kinda guy

                            I've finished MK single player content now, all endings, 100% krypt and 100% challenge tower. Superb game though simply wonderful. I just wish I could play some online now.

                              Ive never really been very good at MK games, but i seem to be hearing positive things all round for the latest version, the demo was fun so maybe i will open my wallet and release the moths once more

                                The game is great and I had to keep on saying to myself that this fight was the last fight in story mode, then there was another and another then a whole other half to go. Heaps of content, the only downside is Shao Khan at the end, you should not have to play the game cheaply in order to beat him, one of the worst fights I have had.
