I always expect it. But I think it's about time Capcom, NetherRealms, SNK etc sat down with their respective teams and actually put some thought into designing entertaining, satisfying fights rather than keep repeating the cheap BS from the arcade era.
Playing through arcade with Sindel last night, the Shao Khan battle eventually boiled down to me consistently fireballing him as nothing else felt consistent or reliable. Tedious wouldn't describe it.

These Bosses can be cheesed, or they rather HAVE to be cheesed but I agree its never a fun fight.
But if a boss is normal powered, people will be like 'this boss is far too easy, last opponent was more difficult' etc. I always enjoyed to fight Gill in SF3 TS, used to rush him down with neat combos.

On the cheapness of bosses point, Tengu from Dead Or Alive 2 springs to mind. Not being able to get an update from PSN makes me wonder if the sounds issue has been or will be corrected when PSN next goes up and there is a MK update. The Arcade mode is great fun up until Shao Khan. I wish some of the old music (remixed) was in this, the opening ladder music to MK II is brilliant.

Can anyone give a beat-em-up simpleton like me some pointers for the Raiden vs Shao Kahn fight in story mode?
I very nearly threw my first joypad last night.
A shame as I've really enjoyed the gusto of the cheesy plot so far and it's put a right downer on it. I'll never understand why difficulty curves go out the window for final bosses. Especially outside of an arcade.
