Amazing. I can't remember half of the bits in this game. Still jealous of those playing for first time though.

      Too early for GOTY talk?

I was thinking the exact same thing, FSW. I'd love to be experiencing this for the very first time. As it is, my memory is pretty sketchy so it's still fun figuring stuff out as I go.

Although I have come across one tiny issue in the game (which I assume was in the original) - sometimes you have to do something at a particular location, like in front of someone, but the space in which it will recognise that action is really small. So I'll think I know what to do, try it with no results and then spend an hour trying to figure out what I might be missing. Then I try the exact same thing but with Link several centimetres in another direction and I'll get the happy completed music and it will turn out I was right all along.

It's such a beautiful game in just about every way though. It looks beautiful, feels like a whole other world and the music is gorgeous (though I do wish they had given that a makeover too). There's so much to explore and find too. Small little secrets everywhere and exploration is almost always rewarded. Although the amount of Rupees I find is usually always wasted due to not being able to carry it, there's still a real sense of achievement finding them.

        Just in

        Jabu Jabu's belly

right now and, unless something in this version turns out to be massively broken at some point, this will end up easily being a 10/10 game. It was before and it's even better now. And, no, not too early for GOTY talk at all! While part of me would be thinking an old game shouldn't ever be GOTY, this is no normal old game.

Hankies at the ready ladies and gentleman. This always makes me so melancholy.

Its absolubtley the game of the year (so far Anyway).

I dont care if its an old game, its as fresh today as it ever was and the graphical Overhaul just makes the game even better.

Was just thinking can it stand up to the big games of today and the 3 main games Skyrim, Uncharted 3 and GoW3, i hope so but i guess im a little bias as Z-OOT is my favourite game EVER.

I dont see why it cant stand up to thjose games. I mean this is a game that, even if it was on a home console, would compete with those games, becuase it actualy is a console game, not a handheld game (though Zelda games are structured in a way that they actuialy work welol on both types of systems). It also plays just as well today as it did 15 years ago, it feels like a modern game, the only thing that had ever really aged it was the graphics and now they have been updated too.

So yeah, it will easily be up there with those games you mentioned come the end of the year...

...Of Course theres still Skyward Sword to come too actualy, the first zelda game that is truley of this generation of consoles, so that might just be comepeting with them too.

I don't have a problem with the 3D, it looks awesome! I have mine on full on all games. I think when I first got the machine I got a little headache when I first played, but ever since i've been fine.

For me it can't be game of the year simply because I don't think any game I've played before, no matter how improved it is, really counts for me.

(Oddly, my current game of the year is still Ghost Trick, which probably says quite a lot about me really)

Have been sitting reading through the positive impressions here, and looking at the generally very good media reviews out there.....with all the GOTY, best game ever (of the original) etc.....but personally, I just can't see it!!

I have come to the 3DS version having never played the original, or any of the Zelda games as it happens, but obviously aware of the heritage of the series, so I had very high hopes for this as I love rpg's / dungeon crawlers.....but this is just not grabbing me, I have just finished the boss in the tree and am bored already, I am just not drawn into the world.....it just seems very childish to me, the whole look, feel & story......just makes me wish the next Elder Scrolls would hurry up!!

Going on the review scores out there it would seem this is the best & unlikely to be topped on the 3DS for a while, so unless the Resident Evil game due soon is amazing, it could be trade in time for my 3DS.

By the sounds of it you just dont like Zelda... its hard to belive that someone exists becuase the series is basicaly the definition of the word "magical", but I guess we all have different tastes.

In truth Zelda games arent really RPG's or Dungeon crawlers though, despite being called RPG's quite often they are really action adventure games that feature pretty complex puzzels the more you get into them. So you were probabaly expecting the wrong type of game.

The only thing though is that he hasn't yet been let out into the field. The Deku Tree is really just an intro. I'd say give it more time. But, yes, it's certainly possible that it just isn't your thing. That said, having grown up with Zeldas, I'd have no idea how it would play to someone now for the first time.

As Ive already said I think it plays like a modern game. The zelda template is one that is still copied by games to this day and Ocarina of Time is deffinitley one of the best representations of it, in fact the series hasnt actualy moved on since this game, this was the first 3D oine and all the subsequent games in the series are very much like it. They dont need to change it though, its almost perfect the way it is, there are very few better games in general really.

Obviously if he was expecting an Elder Scrolls type game though... well thats not what you get with Zelda.
