Well, this one has the potential to be divisive. I had an hour and half on the game and I seem to be quickly approaching the half way point so one again with a recent release it seems to be a short lived single player experience. Now, I was firmly in the stance that the original Resistance was a decent if bland game and the sequel was a mess. This is firmly a big improvement on the last game despite how short it seems to be. Visually it won't win any awards but it's a solid and well presented game, weapons finally don't feel like detached floaty yellow beam spewers and there's a lovely sense of style to the 50's setting despite the game having to tread not too far with it (given the invasion has stopped the 50's as we know it ever existing). The game's narrative is better handled too, nothing that's going to move you but taking events to a more personal level helps the game's vibe more than the, essentially, super soldier of the last 2 games.
Multiplayer on the other hand is a bit of a mess. Maps are reasonable compared to other FPS if lacking in nuances but the battles themselves are a bit of a spam fest. Higher ranked players will heavily abuse the shields, cloaks and Argers so dominate the lesser ranked side and players just seem to charge at one another with no trace of tactics. At the moment, overall it's a decent entry which improves on the previous games but still lags behind the competition.
